  2. She scuffed the edge of her sneakers, formerly white but now worn grayish-brown, along the dusty floor of the station as she glowered through the murky darkness. The man in the corner cat-called to her and the graffiti on the other side of the tracks advised her to “gohomecountrykid,” and though she was rammed by the elbows of a faceless crowd, she stood still and waited through it all for the headlights of the underground-metal-tube.

    When she heard the sound of it coming, the snaking, doorcreaking sound, she jumped.

  3. subways are scary. i don’t understand how they work, although it should make sense. it’s obvioius right? linear? duh. but there’s so much that is non linear about them. crowded, people on your path, you’re in the way, its cramped, its crowded loud, it echos.

  6. The first time I went to New York, I wanted to ride the subway. But after seeing a man knifed to death right in front me, I’m not sure that it’s something I would want to repeat.

    (P.S. I’ve never been to New York.)

  10. Booming lights. Flashing blurs. Communicating whispers. All of which was the environment of my current work habitat.

    Nobody likes being the Subway ticket-eer. A failed high school ambition, one would say.

    I tend to disagree. You see, whenever I stamp a ticket, I get the privilege of knowing where everyone is going at anytime.

    It makes planting suitcases all the more fun.

  11. Subway eat fresh. They always have the best subs around town and it is amazing. They taste so good. The lettuce is so fresh and crisp. I love banana peppers on the sub too.

  12. A subway is a dirty train underground that’s full of death. Adventure novels often have exciting chase scenes in these, and Aqua from the Cheetah Girls reconciles with Galleria after taking the subway to save Toto from the manhole.

  18. Is dark and cold with lots of people moving and thinking. People are on their way to somewhere and tired from there day at work and are happy to be going home. The subway is essential and needed by all these people.

  21. subway. i’ve only ever taken the nyc city subway once, it was one of the best times of my life. it was spring break sophomore year of college with my two best friends in brooklyn. fuck i wish i could go back to when we were that close…i’m in australia now, laura’s in bmore, mike’s here in australia too but we could be millions of miles away and it would be the same.

  22. subway. everytime i think of subway i think of the sandwich. obviously i don’t live in america. but then again…when i think of subway sandwiches..i can’t help but think of fat people. well, fat people trying to be thin. that makes me think of america. i think america is taking over through sandwiches and secret underground tunnels called subways.

  29. I have never been on a subway, but if I had to be on a subway I would want it to be one in new york. I have never been to new york either. So I guess those two things would go well together. Two firsts, one stone.
    I want to have enough money to take the trip to go to a subway.

  32. a new place. underground. i don’t know where i’m going but i’ve finally hit the bottom, trying to get to the top. Dark and humid and noisy and crowded. Where and when is still a mystery but there is still opportunity. Not as good as flying but it still gets me there.

  35. It reminds me of when I was six and saw the underground in London… we did most of our travelling in London by foot or subway. I remember my parents nearly falling asleep, and my sisters panicking and trying to make sure they got off at the right stop.

  37. Subway make sandwiches. I’ve never had a Subway. but it always smells good when I walk past. But in America they must get confused between Subway the sandwich and THE subway, where they walk. I’ve never been to America, but my father lived there for a bit. I wonder if he ate Subway on the subway?

  38. there was a place i used to skateboard when i was younger. we all called the the subway. it was in fact a large subway. i have so many memories there. good ones and painful ones. i miss that place. i miss skateboarding.

  40. Trains moving under group. Fast, cheap, loud. No other way to travel in dense cities. Mass transit is cheap and some what green. Like mole highways. Tunnels like those through time and space.
