  1. Old and new. Tables. Rows of them. They looked sad in a way. I don’t know how. Perhaps because they knew that sitting there was all they do. Then I realize that’s all I do. Sad, Indeed. I wish things were different, but obviously they’re not.

  5. big and small and I really like the ones that are old and you find the letters in them that people have left behind, I think I found a suicide note once or was it a confession, something like that. I felt rather strange and weird and excited all at the same time, I put it back where I found it in the draw in the table in the recycling center.

  6. The table was very old. It was stained and had water stains all over it and was polished lighter in some areas from heavy use.

  7. We mastered times tables in fourth grade. I remember being the best, feeling that spark of thrill when I got the answer right but no one else did. Back then I never understood the how of the questions; how you got from one number to next. Only that you did. It seemed to me that two numbers produced a third with no rhyme or reason. I understood later, but there are still many things to which I cannot provide a rhyme or reason.

  8. i was a waitress this past summer and i learned a lot about people. there was the guy who came in every morning, large regular coffee + scone, but then there were the rude morning people who clearly just didn’t get that being an asshole wouldn’t make me work faster. Then theres the cute couple, the old lady, and the rest of the world, waiting to get coffee to go.

  9. Tables are really good for holding things. Things like spoons and knives and plates, things like conversations and family ties and love and remembrance. And pizza, but hey. Pizza is love.

  10. Turning tables – I suppose this phrase has its origins in gambling. I went to Las Vegas once, – saw people on slot machines before breakfast. It seems a strange alternative to cereal and toast to me.

  11. Tables are a place where you can communicate, a place where you can eat, a place where you can do absolutely ANYTHING on it. Tables can lead you to a new start of a new relationship, find common interests with the help of a table.

  13. Tables. What more needs to be said. They are pretty much THE foundation of our society. You put your feet up, you rest your coffee mug, even the sacred event known as poker night takes place on this glorious surface. What more needs to be said? God’s gift to man.

  14. tables are so simple. take the kitchen table for example. its a peice of wood with four legs,but it holds so much. it is family, friendship, meals and mostly love. no one really thinks about tables but where would we be without them

  28. Tables are meant for placing our belongings on. They are simple structures made of four legs and a board for the top. They hold everything for us. They are sources of leftover papers and tickets and mail and books and anything else you would like.

    TABLE, can also mean a chart. charts are really useful for organizing information.

  36. They can be wooden…or plastic. You can put things on them…like cups, plates, napkins. You can have sex on them…that’d be fun. Watermelons make them sticky and gross. Chairs…they have chairs. And legs. Sometimes those legs have little felt pads on the bottoms to stop them from scratching your floor.
