  1. mixed tapes. the sound of summer playing over the radio. driving along. wind in your hair. friends beside you. one song after the next. a cut, a hook, a beat, a chorus, rhythm. deep-seated meaning in every line. this isn’t a love song. this is life.

    on a table
    next to my bed
    formerly it held a mixtape

  15. I used to love making mixtapes when I was younger. But we could also be talking about scotch tape? Duct tape? Toothpaste? Tape deck… who has tape decks in their cars anymore??? “Hey man, let me play this tape in your car!” “Um, I dont have a tape deck in my car anymore. I have a cd player.” “Whats…a cd??” “I have old friends.”

  16. The Gov. demanded to hear the FBI tape recordings of his phone calls. “I wanna hear them,” the Gov said. “I know what I said. But I want to hear their version of it.” The Gov. was soon indicted on charges of having really bad, goofy looking hair. He would eventually end up on a reality show hosted by a billionaire with really bad, goofy hair. That’s life.

  17. tape is the thing inside video tapes, or VHS.
they remind me of my childhood,
when every lazy afternoon my mum would put on one of my favourite childhood movies,
like harriet the spy or legend of the leprechauns.
as i grew they were viciously taped over,
    never to be seen again.

  18. Tape can be used to hold stuff together, cardboard, paper, people… stuff like that… the non-sticky kind can record stuff, like indie band demos.

  19. When I spent a year abroad in Maine, I constantly heard about Duck Tape. I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about, as I am German. I constantly imagined tape with little cute ducks printed on it and laughed a lot. Never would I have expected it to be plain and black.

  23. tape sticks to everything. it is the opposite of wishy-washy and non-productive and most days it makes me look pathetic in comparison, when you look at it that way. tape know what it wants and it will not be swayed to do anything else until it has been satisfied. tape has a dream and he has realized that dream.

  24. It plays, you can record on it and it’s a wonderful thing to keep your memories and music and sounds on. it keeps your thoughts, your loves, your words and it’s easy and simple to use. you can keep videos on it for years and play them over and over again, it’s just a great object to own.

  26. Tape is great. It’s usually sticky, but how come whenever people wrap birthday presents the tape is always hidden, and perfect, and clean. Whenever i wrap presents the tape sticks to my fingers, and twists and turns, and sticks together, creating a big ol’ mess. Why is this?

    Olivia
  27. i tape my eyes, my mouth, my mind shut and wait for the words and the blood and the view from up above to bleed through the fragile fabric. But the longer I wait the thicker it all gets, the thicker the tape gets.

  29. I remember my first tape, I copied it with my old hi-fi stereo. They had a different taste than today’s CD, they were more human I think. I remeber my long afternoons upstairs recording my favourite radio program, how good it was.

  33. tape… adhesive… not even the strongest could have kept us together apparently. I can’t believe I invested like that when I didn’t have that commitment back. Hopefully i’ll find someone else who will stick with me.

  35. I remember this one time me and my aunt put tape on one of my cats paws… it was so funny. He kept walking around and in between each step he would jump in the air and clap his hands together. He was trying to get it off. He looked like he was all happy or something haha. Eventually we took them off, but not after we already had a good laugh.

  38. Tape is sticky. It’s like if a glue factory exploded onto a highway. A miniature Highway that is. All the cars are like hair that when you drop it they all stick to it to create a nasty adhesive.
