  2. my favourite teacher of all time was my A level maths teacher. Mr. Taylor. He taught me maths and further maths. If you are wondering what further maths means it means even more maths. Half my timetable was maths, and the other half was physics and chemistry. That’s a lot of maths to put it mildly.

He taught excellent maths but more surprisingly he taught me a few little tidbits of philosophy – introducing me to Popper – and the excitement at everything has stayed with me until today.

  7. I had this awesome teacher in high school, she taught Environmental Systems. She inspired me to become more conscious of the environment and my actions and how it affects the globe. She had a pet tortoise in her classroom, and a few years later, I now have one. She was such an inspiration and the epitome of what a great teacher should be. I love her.

  8. Mrs. Walters was my favorite teacher, who had the strange class mixture of second and third grade. I remember I was in second grade, and a boy in the third grade section acted up and was in trouble. She switched he and I so that I was sitting in the third grade. I sat next to Jarred Crab, who I had the biggest crush on.It was the best day of my life. And across from some kid named Jacob who stapled his thumb. He was bizarre and smelled like glue. Jarred made it all worth it that day.

    Ashley
  9. my favorite teacher in high school was Miss Blue. I think she actually went by Ms. Blue, to avoid some sort of sexism. she inspired me to do so many things that I’m better for. She helped me figure who I was and provided this safe place for my mind to wander and explore new terrain. I’m so grateful for her and the ones like her.

  15. He’s smart. And he’s handsome. And he’s funny. And his hair is perfect. And every time I walk into his office he gives me that look, that “There she is again” look. And he asks me for the thousandth time “Haven’t you graduated already?” and I laugh and I nod and I smile. And he smiles.

And then we talk, about life, about the universe, about what has changed and what hasn’t. And it’s like I’m back where I belong, in high school, and everything is okay, because he’s there.

    Jessy
  16. I always thought of you as a teacher, hyung, probably because you nag me so much. I act like I hate it, but that’s actually a lie.
    A big fat lie.
I love it when you tell me what to do. Sometimes I find myself doing things wrong on purpose just to have you tell me how to do it right, or to have you scold me.
I’m just a twisted babo of a magnae, am I not?

  18. She teaches him everything she knows.

He won’t remember, but it doesn’t matter.

As long as he can hear her voice and recall the feelings, he’ll know and everything will be all right.

Because really, that is the lesson.

    Everything will be all right.

For all the death, and the pain, and the suffering–

for all that she cannot touch him–

    Everything will be all right.

  19. This is the person who changes lives. Who looks at each student to find their hidden talents. The person who inspires the future of America. Teachers are the key to our future, too.

    Scott Gomer
  20. Teachers are amazing role models and a huge influence in students/kids lives. Without their knowledge and know how where would we end up in life? like the man living in an alley in a maytag box? or maybe flipping burgers. I would like to say thank you to my teachers! you guys made a huge difference in my life!

    Daniel R.
  21. Teacher teaches the pupils, the pupils take their knowledge and teach others the things their teachers taught them. Knowledge when shared can become diffuse; theorised upon and argued over. So when you’re being taught, why not all just have a fucking argument?

    phil ellis
  22. The teacher sits at the front of the classroom. A shiny red apple sits on the worn wood desk. The class is full of students, heads down, taking a test. The windows are open, the birds sing outside. And she wonders – is this really what I wanted?

How had she ended up in this place? The place most people try to leave as soon as possible she’d voluntarily returned to.

    Karen
  23. She was a good teacher, her hair russet with curls. An older woman in her mid-sixties with the laugh lines of a happily lead life. The children respected her, as did the staff. It was only six days left until…

    Justin Walker
  24. I have this teacher in my bioethics class and she makes me laugh and she makes the class interesting. She makes me not worry about showing up. I don’t even want to skip it. Yet I still wish she’d cancel class. That’s how lazy I am. I hate this.

  27. My mother is a special education teacher. She is the most patient and amazing woman I know. She gives consistency and love to kids who are seen as different, are in and out of foster homes, and have a lack of discipline. She is the teacher that everyone should have in their life.

    Donna
  28. if i was a teacher, I’m not sure i would have the patience that they do today. with the constant interruptions and all other things, it seems hard to have to deal with that. Mostly I would be scared of letting people pass through the grade above without learning anything.

  32. My teacher – Ben – he’s a great guy. Total sweetheart. You wouldn’t think he’d know how to hunt and trap and take out anything larger than a fly, but he can. Does. Well. Well enough to stay alive this long, long enough to be considering retirement in a few years. He’s taught me a lot. I hope I can live up to his trust and belief. I want to prove him right about me.

    Melissa
  33. I never really had a teacher that I respected until the 12 th grade. And then came Carole Shakely. I learned more from her in one year than i did from all the others in the previous 11 years of schooling. She actually taught me to think for myself, which has had a tremendous impact on my life and my career.

    dennis j.
  34. I hated teachers througout grade school. The only way I ever learnt something was if I put my mind to it and taught it to myself. My teachers were lazy, decrepit, and downright unintelligent. The only thing I got from grade school was the conviction to resist institutions while passing through them.

    David Xiao

  36. Teaching is a calling before you can call it anything else – yes, truly. A good teacher can inspire thousands of children, and a bad one can cast the same thousands down into the depths of forever-menial work. Few others, even counting Beezelbub and his minions, have that sort of capabilities.

And there is no teacher better than one who treats it as a calling…

    J
  39. Teacher is a person who teaches. But where does a teacher learn what she teaches? Is she still learning? or teaching what she learnt from her teacher?

    Jasmine
  40. inspiration, leader, learner. The best and the worst experience of sacrifice. Teacher should be an honour to have as a title, not a stick to beat people with.
I am proud to be a teacher, but prefer educator. I don’t teach, I try to lead.
