  1. When I think of tiled I think of the azulejos of moorish Spain. Boring beginning to my oneword entry right? It’s ok, I dont think more than one person will read my entry: me. Either way, tiled makes me think immediately of design, and people make actual living of tiles. I wish oneword.com was more interesting.

  2. once upon a time i had to pick colorful tiles for my kitchen but there wasn’t enough to order for the bathroom so i got extremely frustrated and peed in the corner of the tile store.

  6. The bathroom was tiled in a green splotchy pattern. I hated it. Why had I never changed it? I always felt sick when I used this room. Then, if I actually was sick, it became ten times worse if I entered this room.

If there was someone visiting whom I didn’t like, I would direct them to this bathroom. It was cruel of me, evil. I couldn’t seem to stop.

One day, I would retile this room. Then, it would only be a memory: the room tiled in an ugly, sickly, evil green way.

Why did I think of that? There are many beautiful places in the world that are tiled. Beautiful patterns have been created by tile. With tile, perhaps I should have said. And yet, I come up with a strange story about myself and a bathroom. What does that mean?

And who the heck is going to read and evaluate this? Have they ever tiled anything? I did. I put up new tiles behind a stove. It was a small thing, but it made a big difference.

It wasn’t hard to do. But then, it was a small area. I have never tiled anything larger than about two feet square.

My family once owned a kidney shaped table that was tiled in small, half inch tiles. It was rather like a paisley thing, all told. W

What are those things called that are in a paisley design?

And, hasn’t 60 seconds gone by yet? What the heck am I doing, wasting time like this?!!

  7. I walked in to my home and found that my father had tiled my bedroom door shut. I was not allowed to take my things. It was only an argument I thought to myself and not near the calibar of an argument that I would have thought should leave me homeless. He didn’t speak to me again after that. And I left solomely knowing that I had been disowned.

  8. Tiled is the roof. It’s so tiled that I’m beginning to worry that it’ll have to be fixed soon. No problem, the floor is tiled too. And so is the wall. We can transplant some tiles, so fixing the roof is not an issue. Tiled. Tiled. Tiled.

  14. The bathroom was tiled with red and yellow squares. They went in horizontal lines, vertical lines and diagonal lines. From every angle the floor looked different. The walls were similarly tiled but with opposing colors. They were green and purple.

  15. The floor looks like a disco ball from the 80’s. The black and white tile almost meshing together if you spend too long looking at the floor. The walls present shards of light bounced from the sun off the tile floor. Soon the tile crept up the walls. I was standing in a disco ball. It’s not as fun as it thinks. Dizzily, and dazed I try to walk through the spinning room.

  19. Cold and wet I hate the feeling when I step out of the shower. My mom put in those tiles and I’m sorry she had to do it by herself. They are messy and peeling. I tried to tile the walls and was angry at my uncle for being so condescending about it. If I had my own home I would cover all the tiles with bathmats.

  24. walls around the bathroom. stained, wet, smelly. they are greenish gray. and the blood slowly trickles down them. as the woman in the wig pulls back and realizes what she’s done. it’s one more time in the edge of this place.

  26. Tiled, like a chess board. Two opposing armies ready to annihilate each other on the kitchen floor. But once everybody dies you just play a new game, with the same old pieces. It’s like there was no point in cleaning the floor anyways. The war is endless.

  32. Tiled. The bathroom floor is tiled. People have poor taste in tiles. Tiles come in all colors. Tiled is covered in a hard substance. Being tiled is being protected from spills and accidents. Tiled is sheltered.

  33. tiled makes me think of this crime story I once wrote when I was much much younger. I thought I knew what lino meant but really I just liked the look of the word…it has a shiny liquorice quality to it, 50s too, just perfect for the scene of a crime I must have thought once then…

  34. slipping on the tiled bathroom floor, the clumsy janitor cracked his head open. No one else would be in the building for another 3 hours. so he lay crying out for help, but none came. when they found him he was gone. “who’s going to mop up the blood?” the insensitive prick thought.

  35. looking at her feet, she couldn’t quite decide whether to come out or not. the bathroom was a dead end, and once she stepped out, she’d have to come face to face with the man she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life with.

  36. The tiled floor of the bathroom was supposed to have a soothing effect. That’s what the interior designer said. Mom was so busy that she didn’t even have time to pick out her own tiles. I hated the colors. Who puts brown in a bathroom? So when I threw up that night on the tile, ruining my mother’s perfectly coordinated towels in the process, I felt just a tiny bit satisfied.

  37. Her shoes clack on the polished linoleum tiles. They would stretch out into infinity before her, if it weren’t for the pesky walls and furniture and cabinets. She imagines a world of squares and clouds and numbers. It’s more peaceful there. She sighs.

  38. the floor is slick and wet, and the water runs in dirty rivers through the valleys between the tiny grungy tiles. i want to press my skin to it, feel the coolness of the floor, and i am undeterred by the possible filth there. comfort, relief, overrides cleanliness. hygiene is forgotten. i flatten myself to the floor, and press my lips to your foot.

  39. Closing my eyes to the hot water cascading down my face. Is it mixing with the tears or washing them away? I can never tell. I’ve always found showers therapeutic, though, the sound of the water drowning out my thoughts, not being able to hear myself think.

  40. So there is a tiled bathroom at my old highschool. Me and my friends were not the brightest back then, and we used to smoke ciggarettes in it. Those were great times, stupid, but great.
