round, good year, rubber, travel, escape, car, freedom

A light fog hung from the steep, rocky hillside that overlooked the pick-up angled upwards on top of a jack. Lug wrenches scattered on the countryside highway shoulder, because no matter how many he filled his trunk with in the name of preparation, he never bothered to check and see the bolts were not a standard size. Laying half under the vehicle, he half wished it would come crashing down to crush him. A digital address book with help a tap away, but he left it in the glove box in stubborn shame. Crawling out, he grabbed hold of one last wrench hidden under the spare. Just good enough. He popped off the lug nuts for the front tire, pretending to himself it was easier than it looked, rolled over the spare and affixed it. A sigh from the exertion and the thought of his refusal to call for help also meaning refusing to call home about being late. Knees popping, he shuffled to the rear and put the jack in the now-empty spare tire impression on the dirty trunk carpeting. With a stretch and a step toward the driver’s seat, he paused,
At the popped rear.
the rubber squealed against the concrete though they were only pulling out of the driveway. the car smelled of old crisps and spilled juice, and the kids yelled disney songs from the back. it was gonna be a long, long drive

spinning faster than my head could think, i watched as your truck sped away and i was left alone. wishing you would brake, wishing you would turn around. i remember the screeching sound of you tearing around that corner that we sat on so many times. that was the last time i saw you, i miss you so much. i wonder if your truck still runs good and if your heart still hurts.

when I think of tires, I think of the tool that gets us from one destination to the next… one of the most frustrating things is having a flat tire, the inability to make it to the next destination is devastating. How true of this is life’s challenges? We are on our way to the next destination in life and… BAM! a challenge hits and we feel like were sitting on the side of a road with 4 flat tires, unable to move on.
Tires are designed to get us from one place to the next. One of the most stressful things can be when a tire blows out… how indicative is that of our lives… we go from one destination to the next in this life and any detour or mishap can throw us completely off

She listened to the car screech away and turned towards the noise. He was speeding away from her, like a speeding bullet. That was the expression, right? And it was just an expression. She had nothing to be concerned about. Hopefully. She scanned the area. She was safe. She was. Safe. It was all gonna be okay.
The tires screeched to a halt. The entire community assembled for the panchayat truned around to see who is coming. Then the hero came out of the car and send “nattama theerppa mathi sollu!!”
Rather than write something interesting I am simply going to revel in the irony that is today’s word. “Tires” could not have been a more perfect word to match with the difficult morning that a close friend and coworker of mine has been having.
To her I say “Sometimes it’s a great day, and sometimes your tire goes flat in the middle of a rainstorm on your way to work when you have no umbrella.”

She heard the screeching, she smelt the burning rubber, she felt the vibrations as the car dolted away like a young filly. The victim lay motionless on the road.

“Nice wheels, dude!” says my mate Tommo. He’s referring to my black BMW – I just got the tires replaced. “Cheers, mate” I say, “wanna go for a spin?” “Sure, dude!” he replies. That’s pretty much how our friendship works – me calling him mate, him calling me dude.

Burning tires. Plumes of black, chemical smoke pours out of the shed. I didn’t mean for this to happen. I was just pissed at Jimmy and decided to smoke in his shop. I’m sorry, Jimmy.
Hi
My poor 1994 Honda Civic needed new brakes, a new steering column, and four brand spanking new tires. I was almost wondering if it was time to turn in the old piece of scrap metal and invest in another car. However, the mechanic – a young, strapping lady with black hair and a cute smile – told me to reconsider.
“I can take of this, no problem,” she insisted. “For half the cost those other dealerships would milk out of you.”
