  2. Triangles are the most stable shape in all of geometry. That’s why when you’re building those gumdrop-toothpick-marshmallow towers, you always want to be making triangle joints, not square ones. That shit will fall over real quick.

  4. Three sides, all equal, and yet they can be so heavily weighted. How any other shape can even begin to appear as simple, and yet so complex as the triangle is outlandish, that is unless we are talking about the circle, who when paired with the triangle becomes the basis for an entire section of math. How

  5. The triangle is the strongest geometrical shape. People tend to forget this, disregarding it for the square. The truth is, sometimes you don’t need four sides. Sometimes, having less is more. The truth is, we could all learn a lesson from triangles.

Every time I’ve ever fallen in love, this triangle appears. There is never equality or harmony, but a triangle of three people. Fuck you, get out of my triangle!!

  21. i used to tell my maths teacher i was afraid of triangles so get out of drawing diagrams. He actually believed me! I have a bad habbit of randomly saying things that make no sense, its amazing how much people actualy believe, i told my RME teacher i eat rulers and i told my biology teacher that my cat ate my textbook. I don’t do it on purpose it just slips out. I didn’t have to draw triangles for a long time in maths.. until he brought it up at my parents evening. i was mortified!

  25. triangles are not squares. They are not circles. They are triangular and have three angles. You are wondering why I am telling you about a triangle, but then again, I am wondering the same thing. When you will read this, you will be estranged from the world.

  28. A triangle is something that is not a square, or even a circle for that matter. It is, however, a triangle. Sometimes triangles are big, sometimes small. One thing is for certain, they have 3 sides.

  32. I cut the pastry sheets into imperfect, ruched pieces of triangles; they mingle with each other, become a bigger piece, a better piece. Then I stare at the remainders of what they used to be.

  34. The way their love worked for one another was complicated and often misunderstood by the neighbors. Fred always just figured that Dan of the triangle was a poofter and that’s how he got along with the other two who were clearly passionately in love, once even being busted by the police for having sex in the back yard. But when Dan was asked if he was queer, he slightly tilted his head as a bird would, looked Fred right in the eye, and then kicked him in the balls.

  36. I always feel like I’m stuck in this dumb triangle. I love him. He loves her. She loves….well, who does she love? Maybe it’s not a triangle after all.

Sometimes it feels like more of a spiral, spinning and twisting and ebbing and flowing like a monstrous river. Sometimes it feels more parasitic- feeding off our confusion. Our emotions. Using our pain to grow. Those are the nights when all he can tell me about is how beautiful she looked this morning. Or how wonderful their conversation was two evenings before. And I want to scream that I’m the one he’s talking to, to pay attention to me not her. But I can’t, and I do. Well, I could, but I don’t.

And sometimes, more often than not, it feels round. Beautiful, simple, cyclical. The days when he forgets about the other girl. The days when I feel like it’s just him and me, even if it’s not. The days when he’s mad at her, and we’re just talking. Just the two of us. In our circle. And sometimes I know that the circle’s just a dream, temporary and imperfect. But for those moments when my dreams meet reality, I’m happy in our circle. Even in its imperfections. Even though I know it’s not going to stay. But I stay. In the circle. And dreaming of it is what keeps me talking. Keeps me from screaming that I love him. That I deserve attention.

That’s our circle, and on the days when it spins into a triangle, I let my mind drift off to a cyclical place–one with just us. Just him. And me. And our love. In a circle.

  37. How many people can you fit into a triangle? Eight? Thirteen? What if it’s a small triangle? Four? Nine?

What if you can only fit two people in the little triangle? Does that mean the laughter, the happiness, that comes out of those two people will be smaller?

No. The laughter, the joy, the love, will fill up a much greater space.

    Julia
