  3. Union is about coming together, right? Like when birds pair up. Yeah. Most people leave each other because they’re supposed to, but birds usually keep their social partners. They breed with others, but they keep their social partners. There are other things to say about the word, though…I think of camaraderie. Like buddies who haven’t seen each other in a long time.

Economically speaking, the US is getting its ass handed to it. I’m not suggesting that we build a trans-America superhighway, but look at the EU and the value of the Euro.

  20. It was the state of the union that was in disrepair, hanging in the win like the unraveling shreds of the confederate flag. No one had seen any of it coming, had only been subjected to the tidal wave that came at their towns, barns, children like a sonic monster, throwing up dirt and leaving things on fire, broken, like the hope destroyed. The worst legacy of all: never being able to return to whole, seeing what was lost.

    trisha
  21. There is an inherent need in each of us to have a union with something far greater than we are. However, we seem to unite to things that are less than satisfactory. Things that rob of us our joy, rather than complete it. When we seek unions with people, careers, etc. we find ourselves lacking in any opportunity to truly experience the joy found alone in Jesus Christ, who died that we might be united with God.
