  4. don’t think just write, says you? well i shall write of damask and velvet, queens, silky-smooth-soft-skin under your hands, and little soft whispers that sound like the shhhhh of hands whispering of red crushed velvet. i’ll write of the blue dress i saw her wear one day, and the curves ‘too lush for her thin frame’, and how stunning her pale skin looked against it.

write of lost epics, and histories too huge for the ages to comprehend, and all the people who have gone down into the maw of aeons past. the little girls who played with dolls, and teenage boys sneaking away into the forest for breath-held moments with the girls they adored, and girls who went away to be married and live forevermore as a rich man’s lady.

write of the girls who never knew how amazing they could be, and write of the women who now can realise that they were meant to be something greater than everything they’ve dreamed.

  6. Velvet reminds me of BLue Velvet, afilm that deeply distrubed me. I don’t mind sex in films and I don’t mind violence but when the two are mixed I feel icky and generally don’t like the film. The ear sitting in the grass with bugs on it was also troubling.

  15. Blue velvet caressed her face as she walked into the shrouded room. The dark lanterns that circled the oval shaped room gave little light and hid the faces of all those inside. The monks wore dark orange togas, their bald heads gleaming dimly in the weak light and their medallions reflected the light, sending slivers of light across the walls.

  16. *This is the best night of my life.*
His voice was like velvet, floating out across the room, filling the dark corners, touching the ceiling. It spilled into her ears and permeated every inch of her. She’d never felt so alive; she thought her heart might burst from the beauty. Surely she would melt away if he looked at her.
And then he did. And she didn’t. His eyes lingered on hers and she felt him connect. It was so tangible she could almost reach out and touch the line that ran between them.
Promise hung heavy in the air. She knew it was inevitable– somehow, after the show, she would find her way backstage. She would meet him. And maybe they’d be able to put their connection into words.
