  1. Violet and Flora were sisters born in 1903. They never married and kept the store opened until they died. They always looked like pictures from an old black and white magazine of the 1920s.

  13. Her cheeks rose to the colour of violet, matching the patches on her arm. She ducked, hoping to avoid being the centre of conversation in the kitchen, however her mum caught her arm as she saw her trying to escape, and she yelped. Right on a violet stain.
“Jesse, what the hell is this?”
She didn;t want to answer, she didnt need to answer, she just ran.

  14. The lovely colour filled the room, huge bouquets of violets everywhere! She had no idea who had sent her those beautiful flowers, but that someone sure knew what she liked.
There was a small, violet coloured card with the flowers, which said, “To the beauty of my dreams. I hope you will enjoy watching these flowers as much as I enjoy watching you.”

  15. Violet. Why don’t people talk about violet when they discuss the rainbow? And where did indigo run off to? Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. It’s that song… red orange yellow green blue purple god made the rainbow bright bright bright. God fucked up the rainbow with that song.

  16. Rebecca has always loved the color purple. It reminds her of the valley, of the clearing, of the beautiful flowers that decorated their secret love. But it also reminds her of the fall.

  17. Purple? No. One letter away from “violent.” Calm. My favourite nail polish. The more you look at it, the stranger the word seems. It loses it’s meaning.

  18. The colour bloomed across her arms and legs, accompanied with tinges of green and black. He stared at the exposed flesh, the angry welts, not quite believing it. Lifting his gaze, he saw that she was looking away, her cheeks red with shame.

  23. The flower is a violet. Its very pretty and smells sweet. In my garden there are a lot of violets in bloom. The bees seem to like them the best.

    Keeah
  24. I had an Aunt Violet, and she had a sister Rose and a sister Daisy and a sister Flora (who they called Buttercup). My great-grandmother apparently liked flowers.

  25. Purple, deep deep purple. Kind of like the hole that you left in my heart. Everything that you have done to me is now imbrassed by the color purple.

  26. Violet is one of my favorite colors, though I prefer teal. Violet also sounds a lot like ‘violence’, which, coincidentally, was yesterday’s word. I think violet is one of those ‘hate-it-or-love-it’ colors.

  27. maybe i thought the last word was different. maybe i didnt notice your face the first time we fell in love. maybe it was me that walked by, smiling, without even realizing it’s effect. maybe it was me that made this so complicated. i’d make it more simple if i could. and i know its not you.

  28. I looked into her violet eyes. Oh, how I had fallen in love with them years ago. They were the most beautiful things I had ever seen, and I had forgotten about them for years. But here they were again. In front of me. I couldn’t ignore those violet eyes. They were just too violet and I couldn’t stop looking.

  29. The lovely color of the rich,
used to mock the son of man,
who came to die for the sins of all of
    us,
    we mortals
    that were destined
    to die.

  30. ROYGBIV is what comes to mind. Which makes me think of physics class last year. I came out of the class with a low B and I was very disappointed in myself. I hate getting bad grades. My school is designed to make us believe that everything but an A is failure. My dad was a math teacher and got two kids who suck at everything left brained. Or is it right? Anyway, it’s funny that the word Violet spurred this discussion.

It’s also the color of my water bottle which is sitting right next to me. But that’s irrelevant.

  31. purple. The color of royalty.
The color of fields in the spring,
how it brings the flowers to life!
It brings the field for all to see,
the beauty of what nature can be.

  34. Violet eyes do not exist, although they seem to come up in poetry and legends fairly often. Apparently the most beautiful women in the world have violent eyes, making them rare and exotic, if not downright unnatural.

  35. The color of my heart on days that I see you. The smell of the summer. The taste of sympathy and calm. Violet. It’s every color I think of. It shades the world around me. I’m sorry I couldn’t me more violet for you.

  36. The violet silk of her gown brushed the edges of the steps making a soft swooshing sound as she went down the stairs. She saw him standing in the doorway and was about to speak when he turned abruptly. The awe and love reflected in his eyes made her blush with pleasure and embarrassment.
“What do you think?” She asked nervously, smoothing down the folds.
“I think…” he paused. “I think you are lovely”, he finally answered as he offered his hand to her.

  37. The seventh color of the rainbow is violet. A color rich, and deep. it is now strewn across the sky and gives me a longing for home. The violets in my yard come back every spring, i never had a chance to miss them until now.

  38. violet

This is interesting (to me! Lol!) I was going to write that Violet was the name of Snoopy’s original owner. But it’s not. Lila is the name of Snoopy’s original owner. Which in Spanish is the word for Lilac, which is purple…. like violets are…

The mind works in mysterious ways….

Of course there’s always “You’re turning violet Violet!”

  39. “Roses are red, violets are blue, honey is sweet, and so are you.” She put down the paper and looked up at him. He smiled and gave her a hug. “Did you like it?” she asked hopefully. “I loved it,” he answered with a warm smile.
