He took a deep breathe and simply remained standing there. Arms wide open, letting the wind blow his hair back, his eyes closed.
“This is what peace feels like,” he thought. “This is what I want. Not the vague empty feeling that has lately been haunting me.”
And then he let himself fall, face forward into the water.

I sat in the pool and watched the little kids wade all around me… they swam just like they were never afraid of water, and i sat still and quiet, afraid of the cold and that my bikini would show too much skin. 23. Reminds me of a kid i worked with in Kenosha named Wade. It makes me wonder what he’s doing. Did he go into the adult system. i hope he’s okay.
It also makes me think of a lake and wading in the water. Lake Michigan. Where I grew up and we’d go to the lake and wade. Then if we were at Grant Park, we’d walk the trails. It was a lot of fun. We used to take tandem bikes there. I was friends with the girl who’s dad owned the bike shop. We’d stop at Dairy Queen for ice cream. Summer days. When I was young. No worries. Coming home for supper on the table with my family. Eating soup on a hot day to cool down. That was a great summer day when I was about 12? I miss those days. Wonder whatever happened to Marla who’s dad owned the bike shop. She moved to the suburbs. I visited her once and then we lost contact. What was her last name? Maybe she’s on F/B. This is a long time to write

  26. This is the name of Scarlett O’Hara’s son with her first husband. He is named after her husband’s war captain, Wade Hampton. It was very stylish to name your child after your husband’s war captain if he died in the Civil War. She never much liked Wade, and he became a very meek child who only his Aunt Melanie liked because his mother scolded him so much. Rhett was very good to him, and always treated him as his own son.

  31. It wasn’t easy to watch him standing there in the middle of the river. He’d gone out past his waist and seemed to be waiting for something. I didn’t know why, but I knew that he seemed at peace. When he came out the other side I saw a smile on his face I’ve never seen before.

  32. Walk in water. Dabble your toes in a lake. Stroll in the surf and laps of ocean waves. Tickle your feet in a pond or stream or waterfall.

  33. Wade wasn’t just an ordinary guy, his feet smelled beyond repulsive. It was his matter of course to wear layers of socks and use a myriad of anti-fungal, anti deodorant, and numerous powders. Even though his routines were many, the local shop held a back inventory of socks ordered especially for him. One never saw Wade without something on his feet and one never invited him to take them off unless you wanted to pass out. Poor Wade was a lonely guy, that is until he met Lillth, the new podiatrist that had just moved into town.

It was awkward at first, since he did not know who she was and why she kept staring at his feet whenever she saw him. He was sure that she was out of his league, but little did he know she was perfect for him.

Lilith on the other hand was really looking at more than his feet. Sure it was her business to know feet, but it was the man she felt drawn to, the man she knew she would charm the socks off.
