    it more represents a spectrum of feeling that doesn’t necessitate but doesn’t always exclude need. When you are in wanting of food, you only seldom need it. When you are in wanting of a person, it is almost certain that you don’t.

  14. Wanting is a yearning that so visceral it hurts. It feels like a physical need, though by definition, it’s not. The word itself is embarassingly juvenile — “I want you” — and thus reveals the vulnerable place that wanting brings us to. It reduces us to yearning adolescents… panting after what we do not have.
