  12. When will this entire process be over? When I decide it will be. When I decide to stop feeling fragmented. When I decide to stop using fragments. When I decide to sit down and write my papers and plot out the rest of my life as if I am a character in my own special novel and when I decide that graduating college is worth it. When? Hopefully come May, if I don’t fuck it up.

  13. When I was your age…the old man began. Timmy hated going over to his grandpa’s house, he always seemed to have a story for everything. It wasn’t that his stories weren’t interesting, it’s just that they made Timmy’s life feel so boring, so mundane in comparison. He wanted to be that heroic cattle rancher or that daring explorer in the bush. Perhaps he could grow up sooner if he tried harder.

Timmy got off his Grandpa’s lap and walked into the kitchen to grab a juice box.

When Gramma gets here. When’s Gramma getting here? When she’s done with her errands. When will that be? It depends on her ride. When is her ride supposed to come?

  17. When I left then, it seemed so great, like I was going out into a new world, starting a new phase. When I got there, I clung on so tightly to the past, like I never had wanted it gone. When I leave, I’m gonna cling on to now, and hope I get it back. When I stop clinging, I’ll be happy. Hopefully.

  25. That is the question.
When will all this stop ?
    When will I find a job ?
And most importantly : when are we gonna eat ?
It’s worth noting that the word can express both the question and the answer.
Thus it’s promising as well as scary.

  29. when i was young i used to never play with kids in my neighborhood. mostly because there were no kids in my neighborhood to play with. i do remember jonas. he was a good kid, and still is. but for a vast majority of the time, i was alone or with my sisters. so i would occupy my time with something like building a dam, or painting a rock or collecting an assortment of good smelling things and grind them together to make a sort of potpurie, if you will; not the activities of a typical 6 year old if i say so myself.

  39. There was no when here, out in the vast space between was and will. No entity existed to tell you the infinitesimally tiny time between one coherent thought and the next, and that was how time was truly measured. No thought – no I – no when, therefore.
