  3. She couldn’t be held accountable if she didn’t tell anyone, was the thing. And she didn’t tell anyone. Because she never saw anyone she’d known before the trip ever again. When she arrived, she changed her name, cut her hair, started painting when she used to cry during art class in middle school, and no one knew her again. No one.

  4. It’s something I run from. I don’t want to be reminded of my responsibilities, my failures. I don’t want that nagging feeling in the back of my head screaming “you should,” “you aren’t”, “you could be,” “you fail”. It’s the reason I run from everything: failure. I’m terrified of it. And the more I run, the bigger it grows.
