  9. Some day
    it will be on fire,
    some day,
    it will start a choir
    playing games
    with matches,
    not nun swatches,
    playing games
    that turn into our races.

    Some day,
    it won’t be as
    harmonious,
    like melody
    and surely we
    will hit a dissonant chord,
it’s quite for sure for us.
It’s a must endure for us.

    Some day,
the years will last an hour,
at the most it’ll be a little sour,
but we’ll deal with it as it comes along,
    while we’re writing our song,
for the days ahead of us,
    stuck in this frozen tundra.
    Some day,
    an aurora will come along,
    looking like notes
    swelling in a symphony
    like we will be
forever in the sky, you see
    some day we will know
    what is ultimately told
from our story that hasn’t yet
    to unfold for us.
    It’s quite sure for us.
It’s a must endure for us.
    But we’ll write a song.

  17. Elastic

    Super elastic bubble plastic!

    And Stretch Armstrong!

… I need to get some “later in life” memories.

Isn’t that what senile people do? Remember everything from their childhood, because those memories have been in the “brain system” longer? But they couldn’t tell you about newer events, like what happened yesterday?

    – I can tell you what happened yesterday. I had a crappy day!!! I can also tell you lots of other more recent things, but they’re not the first things that come into my mind with these exercises. More ingrained stuff pops immediately to mind. – Like “Super Elastic Bubble Plastic!”

I can still remember how that stuff looked (dull mixed colors, and the (relatively) clear bubble that would come out the side, never in the center of the glob on that red straw, no matter how much I tried to position and re-position it and aim my blowing), felt (Cold. Why did it feel cold? It did though.), smelled (Hard to describe, but I remember it.) – and every other detail from puncturing the tube, to making the small ball of goop and pressing the edges onto the straw to make a seal so the blob wouldn’t shoot off like a piece of gum when you started to blow. To rolling the tube to squeeze the last bits of the plastic-y stuff out, to when the tube would tear (as part of that effort,) and the goop when it hardened (in bubble form or not,) when it wrinkled as it’d deflate and feel like a dried up skin, to the blobs that would harden, but not all the way, and the sound and look and feel and the tension of those blobs as you tried to stretch them and they’d snap in half, and what a clean snap it’d be… flat, and short. Both sides.

I could go on but the details are overwhelming. This is from *eons* ago! But my brain forgets very little.

  18. Elastic can be a word that describes all sorts of things. Skin. Supply and demand. Or relationships. An elastic relationship is one like I just had with my ex. Let me tell you… It sucked hardcore. One minute, it’s good, the next it’s being stretched to the limit. One minute he’s completely in love with you, the next you’re crying in a dark corner because he’s completely in love with another girl. But life is elastic too, isn’t it? It’s not always fair. It’s constantly being stretched to the limit. That’s what makes it fun.

  19. we stretch ourselves, to fulfill others needs. we do nothing for ourselves. all we do i need to please, to wait for the approval of the ones higher and mightier.

Your sister hates wearing her hair up, but she does it because she know he likes it. You’re rather smug, watching her trying to impress him by looking prettier.

(Your boy likes quantum physics, though, and it’s a bit more difficult trying to impress him.)

  23. I am strong, but pliable. I can bend when I wish. I can take many forms, because there is none that I cannot be. I flow with my whims and folly.

  25. my mind can be elastic at times- other times it snaps back like a rubber band and breaks. hopefully this is a rare occurrence, but i seem to be blissfully unaware until it’s too late. i try to stretch myself out like elastic sometimes, to take everything in with some give. i don’t know if i succeed. i have these thoughts and feelings that keep stretching lengthening my world and stretching. i feel like it might give this time. self awareness is good?

  29. I watched as the elastic fell from my hand. I didn’t know it would do that, I was just trying to make a skirt. When I picked it up I finally looked at it and saw it was rubber. Crazy, huh? I don’t know how I was going to make a skirt with rubber. Rubber. What a weird word. I think elastic will be a thing I buy at the store next time, huh? Sometimes I worry elastic might get me in my dreams. Is that normal? I think it’s perfectly normal but my friend Charlotte says it’s really weird of me.

  34. Elasticity immediately makes me think of Physics, and stretchy rubber bands, and then… Whoah. Like, bubble tape, or something like that? What a great word, man. You can think of how elastic everything really is, and the fact that for every force, there’s some equal and opposite force… But when there’s elastic force, shit starts flying.

  40. A relationship should be elastic, like a rubber band. It should be able to stretch and yet come together in harmony. If you pull too much though, it will break. There is no perfect rubber band in life. Being flexible and understanding is a must, but don’t push too hard. Or the person in the relationship might just snap and break.
