Gunfights. How could he write a cowboy novella without a gunfight? A classic shootout in the street where the opponents are facing back to back, clenching their guns in their hand and quietly quaking with fear. Perhaps he could avoid the cliche's for once?

secretary

He wanted to be a secretary and his parents did not like it. When he first told them, his father assumed that he was only taking the secretary job as a starting point of his career and build up to greater things. This assumption was shot down upon birth and in its place his son sung about his love of typewriters and being of assistance to a person with a professional career. “A male secretary? How ridiculous,’ his father replied spitefully whilst his mother put her head in her hands.

In my head as I stared out the window, umbrella at the ready, was that song from the film Bambi. "Drip, drip, drop, little April showers..." But the thunder and lightening and dark grey clouds that lingered above indicated that this wasn't just a little April shower. Nonetheless, I loved storms, they were just as beautiful. Just as calming.

She sat at the bar and smiled widely as the barman put the glass of wine in front of her. She picked it up and tasted the sweet dry taste against her lips and made a satisfied noise. It was her poison and she loved it.
