The music crescendos
within my heart
swelling harmony grows
no more apart
The symphony I hear
as I kiss you
falls not upon deaf ear
I have missed you
Your patent leather
shoes tapped out
a rhythm across
the hardwood floor;
I watched you
grab your bag
sling it over
your shoulder and
without a second glance
leave my life
and I can still hear
the rhythmic
tap
tap
tapping
of your patent leather
shoes echoing
through the
hall and fading
down the stairs
it starts
with a gentle
random
drip
drip
drip
gradually
building
growing
into a mighty
crescendo
as it beats
a melodic tune
on the
tin roof
overhead
i keep my secrets hidden there
locked up tight they will not depart
but love me true and I will share
the combination to my heart
