She wasn't sure what she was doing, standing in the boutique, looking at all the long dresses. She wasn't sure why she was bothering. After all, no one cared. She couldn't afford any of the dresses, nor would she ever have a chance to wear them. She just wanted to feel the silk and the satins, the glitter and gossamer, the tulle and tufts.
Things in life are always changing, always different, always terrifying. Nothing stays the same for very long. There is nothing you can do about that. You have to keep going, ignoring the changes that happen. You just have to find that one person that's always stable.
She giggled, twirling around, just barely seeing the end of her braid as she spun in a circle. She loved her hair. It made her feel grown-up and like she knew something. It made her feel like a princess. She skipped out of her mother's room to get dressed.
