side

There's only one word and this one word today is side. Like on its side, the thing lay on its side. It wasn't upright as it should have been, but just lying on its side. In the dirt. A planter on its side in the dirt. Probably the darned dog knocked it over again. Crummy dogs anyway.

half

It had to be somewhere. She looked in vain behind the milk on the fridge's top shelf. And in the freezer. And in the cereal cupboard, and even in the junk drawer. But it wasn't anywhere. She was bereft. She had saved half of her Snickers bar for later, and now it had disappeared.

Something that really makes me feel at home is the afghan I knitted. It's kind of homely -- I wish I'd waited until I got the just-right color yarn instead of the almost-right color to fit in with the other four. But it's nice and warm and yeah, it's pilled, but it's mine. And I made it for me. It shows me that I love me, and that is real comfort.

event

The block party that's coming up is going to be a lot of fun. Balloons, clowns, sidewalk sale. Authors, musicians, the whole thing. It's for Powell's Books' 41st anniversary, and I wish that I could go. Sounds like a neat event.

want

There was a dearth of good available men here. She'd known that when she'd emigrated to the flower capital of the world. Sure, there were plenty of other kinds of company, but now that she was here, and it was too late, she knew what she really wanted.

My husband likes hats. Not just any kind of hats, but nice hats. He likes to have hats that make him look old-fashioned and gentlemanly, and hats that keep him cool in the summer with shadowed panes on his face, and hand-knit wool caps in the winter.

Committed to a charge, they sallied forth and they did not conquer this time, but they sure as hell tried. They were committed once the officer said to go, and so they went, right into the ditch of hurtling horse.

The bronze statue stood in the courtyard as it had for a long time, no one knew how long, though certainly it had to have been not since the bronze age since no one knew how to make it before that. I don't know how to make bronze myself, so I couldn't make a bronze statue just yet. More lost technology.

I am in my element, out here in the elements. "The elements" sounds so elemental, so basic, so right there in the here and the now. The wind in my face, the cold wind, the rain. It stings and bites and I don't like it. Screw it. I'm going in.

oh crap i already got this word even tho that was yesterday to my way of thinking it must have been tomrorroe because of the east coast time zone difference or something like that there stuff
