When I was little I saw an ad where a woman goes to a barber shop and gets her hair cut in a man's style. I was so eager to grow up and be that woman and show that I could be like a man. I realize now how completely ridiculous that notion is, as if she somehow gained empowerment by stepping into a man's domain and becoming man in what she saw as just the right ways, but doing it sexy, "like a woman".
My alarm goes off in the morning at basically the same time every day. It's a really annoying tone, but I don't have too many options and it does the best job of waking me up. My roomate will tell you about it, she's a big fan. I have a clock with an old fashioned bell alarm but that's even worse.
I hate taking all pills- advil included. My parents have always been like, "Come on, you want to get better don't you?" and pushed tylenol at me, and they have offered to get me prozac or something. The only pills I'd take are vitamin caps, but I am guilty of trying alternative medicine pills, which is kind of different.
I got a Gamecube for my birthday when I was 12 or so. I got two controllers with it. My sister and I used them to play Super Smash Brothers and this racing car game. But I always wanted a third, even though I rarely had a third person over to play with it.
When I was a young teen, Kurt Cobain was the coolest person ever. I think I was 13 or so. Nirvana was my favorite band for a really long time. I didn’t believe it was suicide- I really believed that his wife hired someone to kill me. I watched Gus Van Sant’s “Last Days”, watched Michael Pitt climb up to the sky with my jaw dropped. I began to imagine what his last minutes were like. I was diagnosed with clinical depression about 4 years later, but I hadn’t really thought of it like that before. Nick Drake committed suicide, didn’t he? A lot of really cool people commit suicide, don’t they? They also do a lot of drugs.
