The eyes stared wide and dark, and I didn't think she knew why or how her fingers trembled, but shock struck her and she spat out the words simple and quick, though stuttered like a bad transmitter. She paled and said, "It's not my fault."
The wrench pulled and heaved against the screw as we dreamt of bigger things like people like whales who pulled and tugged at the ocean, and I imagined him far away, pulling at something like machinery as I dreamt of whales like oceans, and I think I had ADD or something because I always imagined something bigger even though people told me not to, and I wanted something greater, but I watched the wrench pull and tug, and I thought life couldn't be simpler.
