The thought of me having to hide from other highschoolers in order to live was unfathomable just a few days ago. What happened? As i sit here in the dark, which i had sadly become accustomed to, i wonder if i picked the wrong place to hide. Would they look for me under the sink? It doesn't look like I could fit, but the hiding place is so clich'e. I neve- theyre coming. The ominous sound of footsteps made its way closer. My heart starts racing and i feel like im going to explode. I don't even know how to use a gun, what am i supposed to do? The footsteps get louder. My senses highten. All i can hear is the footsteps, pounding on the floor, slow and rythmatic, hypnotizing. Like the drums you'd hear getting marched to your execution, loud and intimidating. As i can feel the vibration of their foot making one last step, my fists tighten and i hold my breath.

event

The most important event in her life happened in a flash. It changed her forever. It seemed to go by in slow motion yet a thousand miles an hour. The blood... it characterized the entire situation. The smell of iron clouded the rooms, the stentch of it floating through the air. As she looked at the floor, the walls, and in the mirror all she could see was red. The only other color that caught her attention were her eyes as she stared into the mirror. The deep green, like grass. She lifted her hands to her face shaking vigorously, the coagulating blood stuck to her cheeks, hands and torso. All she could feel was the tingling in her hand, and her heartbeat that raced at a million miles an hour. Her eyes teared, "be strong" she thought. What else could she be? She had no where to go. She turned on the faucet and scrubbed with hard crumpled paper towels they supplied. She couldn't get it all off, it stayed with her like glitter would on a small child. She couldn't stand to look in the mirror any longer, and burst through the door only to see the paramedic woman there, "You're safe now. I bet you're hungry. Lets get that wound bandaged up." The blond woman gently put her hand on her back and led her to her hospital room, where she would wait to know whether the family she knew was dead or alive.

The approval of everyone around me slowly grew less and less... at least in my mind. Every breath, every glance, every comment made by the people around me had centered itself in my world. My mind revolved around the idea of these people liking me. This was completely new to me; I had never cared before. Every thing started to fade away and all that was left was attention seeking, depressed and confused me. What happened to me? These people had eaten me alive. I used to be so independent... an artist and an explorer. I was sucked into the highschool mindset. Now I knew what I needed to do. Escape... again.

I couldn't beleive what he just said to me, i was flabberghasted. As he stood there with the candle holder in his hand and the hot wax dripped down his cold hand it didn't seem to hurt him. I was angered and surprised. Lies. My trust in him had been fading but this was the last straw. I had to leave. Nothing seemed real anymore; not the cold floor under my feet, not the soft glow of the candle's flame. I knew the second i left my life would change forver. And it did.

The beautiful glistening white icing was so prefectly swirled around the cupcake. Dripping from the frosting, making the freshly baked warm chocolcate cupcake even more enticing... how i longed for it like it was made of gold and diamonds.
