It catapulted in a million directions. The flash of the sidebars and the corny 80's action movie pictures of the head of the machine were making Jessica's eyes blurry. She flicked the toggle, up and down, trying to get the stupid ball to just go into the stupid lane. A light flashed and suddenly, without her permission, the ball shot down and a message flashed on the screen: Please Insert Another Coin To Continue.
Scattered in her hair, were the remains of the men she had once loved. When another came along, her materialistic personality had given in and she had been forced to give up her lover, to make room for a new one. This happened over and over again, in a constant cycle of love and then love again. But she was also selfish - she couldn't bear to part with them, so she turned them into shells and traced them along the edges of her ear.
The balloons were strung, in no particular order, along the side of the house. Clara stepped into the view frame of everyone waiting for her at the party.
"Surprise!" they called out.
She looked at them all, blinking. Tears suddenly filled her eyes.
On a banner above her head, were the words: Our Clara Beat Cancer.
There is a shirt, somewhere. It has the name and the faces of everyone you've ever loved, smiling up at you.
But people walk right past it, because of the sleeves.
On the sleeves are me, loving you.
But the people, you see, don't love me at all.
