I'll never forget the first time I met her. The bar was clouded, thick with cigarette smoke and the chatter of patrons. I had been there quite some time, sitting alone nursing my gin when I felt the presence of someone sit next to me. I turned, and the smoke cleared and the room fell silent for what seemed like eternity. As she ordered her drink, I fumbled for words but none came out. I never saw her again. I only remember her face and the small panda pin on her bag.
