Walls can be a means for one to find themselves, but they may also be what leads or keeps us from others. It isn't easy being wide open with people, because that requires trust and when you have been hurt by so many it tends to lead you away from trusting...hence the walls that we build around ourselves.
I have danced before walls when there was nowhere left for me to dance and when the dance was done I quietly tiptoed out leaving as if I had never been there before.
