They were my angels, they were always there for me. I knew that they hovered above my head watching for danger to cross my path. Not only were they my angels they were my friends. Yes, I was friends with my guardian angels. Their names were Steve and Sara.
"We are not related." I claim as my sister dances around Wal-Mart singing on top of her lungs. It may have been cute when when we were little but we were now in our 20s, rooming together at Utah State. I wanted to curl up in a ball and hide.
"I can run farther than you can." the little boy called as he took off down the road.
"Na-hu." I yelled chasing after him.
I could see him in the distance and i was straining to catch up. I tripped over my untied shoelaces.
I was afraid. I was afraid of a relapse into the dark corner that I had hidden myself for the past three years. I was afraid of letting anyone in, I was afraid of not letting anyone in. I didn't know what to think or do. I was just afraid.
My client winced as I hit a sore muscle. "Are you okay?" I asked.
She nodded, "I have started running again. I think I overdid it yesterday."
"Do I need to stop, does it hurt too much?"
"No. Keep going."
She gripped the chair as I attempted to work out the knot.
Ah the life of a nail tech!
"He is attractive." I thought to myself as I walked toward the table where two guys sat. One of which I knew, the other I wanted to. "Hey." I said sitting down. They both greeted me warmly.
Detergent. I make my own laundry detergent, and my own fabric softener. They are both super easy and super cheap recipes. We save a lot of money by making them. A five gallon bucket only costs about 4 dollars.
I think panda bears are cute. I have seen them in a zoo a few times. They look so soft. I would love to pet one. Never mind that it would probably think I was a tasty snack and not a cuddle buddy.
"She is a bad influance on him." Sarah complained. "Since they met, he is a totally different person!"
And on she ranted. Complaining about everything she could think of.
It looked like a normal electric hand mixer, but it was so much more. It was a symbol. Silly I know, but this battered old mixer was a symbol of our life together. It was one if the first "appliances" we had bought as a married couple.
