I am a shape shifter. You think it is you who is changing, but it is I who change you. I stare at you, day in and day out, challenging your true image by showing you a possible image of yourself, an altered image you slowly come to believe and accept. Do you know this, or do you go through life’s motions, none the wiser? Sometimes I like to think you’re smarter than you look.
I am your reflection, for this life, and you think you are whoever I want you to be.

The word perfect was clearly unachievable now. My life was supposed to be flawless, blemishes simply not allowed – no alterations required. But here I was, a mess on the floor in my bathroom, clutching tissue in my small shivering hands. It almost seems funny now.
alterations is the message of life. a initial perfect form and then slight alterations. mistaken by some as deviations and degradations, it is simply altered. not devious, just different. what is? everything. the perfect form doesn’t exist, or hasn’t since Eden. all we have now are alterations. think of your childhood image and now go and look at yourself in the mirror

So many changes had to be made. So many rough edges to smooth out. Or so they told me… over and over again. They made me feel imperfect. Less than human. Like I needed to be… altered.
A wedding dress should fit perfectly, no alterations required – and sales associate Marina was deeply panicky about the bulges now emanating from under her client’s bra.

To clothes. To writing. To us.
At first, they are lovely
They are new
They are right.
But then they are not.

This dress won’t fit, said matty as he tried pushing the slump buttons of the polarized polo blouse over his broad grostesque shoulders through his noodle arms and over his elongated head. b

a twist a turn a stitch up your sleeve pour your thoughts into a sieve and see what they turn into “i love you” becomes “wear your jacket honey” and “someone speak to me” becomes “hello” and “let me speak” becomes nothing nothing at all
A dress? My life? Make alterations. They make make things better or worse; however you will learn from the process. Try to choose them well and be specific. Make them to make you happy. Be creative. Change is good.
