  1. I dont require anyones approval, no one needs anyones approval ever. the sooner everyone realizes this the happier we will all become, and in better harmony can we live together, of course that will never happen. so perhaps we could all simply attempt to live this way in hopes that more of us could live a happier life, not for anyone in particular but ourselves.

    Mark
  2. We all say we don’t need it, that we are better without it, that it means as little to us as the judgmental mouthes it comes from, but we know we are deceiving ourselves. It is that prize which we subconsciously devote our life to. It is that fleeting smile, that hopeful nod, those seconds that we see that in society’s eyes we have met the unreasonable high expectations it has set before us. However as smiles fade and the once-attentive faces turn in the other direction we realize, the gift of approval was never ours to keep, it was merely a cruel reminder that you are the product of a twisted world.

  3. Er. This is… tricky. Approvals are tricky. Why can’t we just live without. If we do, we wouldn’t have to worry, we wouldn’t have to get scared. FCK APPROVAL!

  4. I think I need it, I dont. I love myself and I know whats right for me I can do this. I will be successful in my own way.

    Kylie
  5. Approval Is what you get when someone says you can do something. But you can only do that something after you have gained trust from that one person. They won’t approve just anything, until they know they can trust you in that situation. So by gaining trust, you gain approval. And sometimes.. Trust is a very hard thing to gain. So don’t be mad when someone doesn’t approve of something your doing, it may be an okay thing to do, but that person may just not trust you at that time. Work hard to gain trust and you will be able to do just about anything

  6. Caius watched a lot of movies. And in a lot of movies, a theme came up: parental approval. Particularly the father’s. A lot of heroes had this crazy obsession with their dads accepting them, with making their fathers proud. And sometimes they got the approval and sometimes they didn’t, but it was always DEFINITIVE.

He would’ve given anything to know how that felt.

  7. Do not worry, I approve
    Be beautiful, I approve
    Fall in love, I approve
    Be amazing, I approve
    Be smart, I approve
    Be you, I approve
Don’t let anyone stand in your way
    Be, free.
    Free of stress.
    Free of people.
    I approve
The most important question of all though:

    Do you approve?

  8. No one needs my approval. It’s just a silly word that makes people feel inferior~

  9. When you are seeking approval from someone, it may be an indication that you are insecure.
Needing approval means that you are looking for assurance from someone else for your right to be. Your right to be right or to be wrong. It makes no difference. Approval is something only you can give to yourself.

Be true to yourself and allow yourself to open to your own approval.

    Joanne
  10. Sometimes, we all need approval from the ones we love. It hurts when you want to something so badly, but without approval you feel you cant truly achieve it. I wish I had approval. In all things I care about, but i dont. and I need it. No one understands how much I need it.

Six inches of hair, on the floor. The suit was expensive to take in, but she paid out of pocket. The interview was at nine.
She wouldn’t be around to make his dinner when he got home.

  12. Approval is always something nice to get from somebody. When I hear from my boss that I’ve done a great job, it always gives me that gay feeling inside. It also reminds me of when I do well on a test, and how getting accepted to college will feel.

    Stephanie

    Olivia Wolfe
  16. We live in a world of “apps” although I don’t believe they bring “appiness”. Approval enslaves you to others’ opinion and imprisons you.

    Bonnie
  17. This is a good one. Approval. I don’t get much of that. Mainly from my mom, which is normal for a teenage girl. “You didn’t do the dishes right” or “The bowls have been put away crooked.” Not the best thing…

  20. I got the letter the day after I send the application. I was going. I was accepted. I was the most amazing day of my life. I was actually going to the school of which i had dreamed of for the past 10 years. I ran up and down the room, screaming at the top of my lungs. My parents wondered what the hell was wrong with me until they saw the letter too.

  21. The girl nodded and smiled, despite the feedback crawling into her ear and raking her insides. No one likes their failure replayed on a loop.

  22. It wasn’t easy. I wanted to get the approval so desperately but I just didn’t think I had it in me. It had been weeks since I’d written the document and shredded it at least a million times. The concept of it had changed so many times that it was barely recognizable anymore. What would they think when they read it? Would they see a desperate attempt at a musical? A magnum opus? Or a flayling pathetic peice of meandering garbage?

At least once someone will begin an action looking for an approval in the end.
Approval as in laughter, respect, or gratitude.

    Nicole
  26. I try to find approval in my parents eyes.
I try to win the approval of my teachers with my writing that I am so confident about.
I try to win approval of those I like and my friends.

    Nicole
  27. approval of a lot of things. approval of me. approval of other people. i think we’re all too concerned with approval…with everyone else’s approval, and with giving our own to stuff that doesn’t concern us. maybe i’m projecting what i do onto everybody else, though.

  28. approval is all about what people think about you. it is good to be approved of but also it can be bad because you can feel judged. I dont mean you as a person I mean you figuratively, but approval is not something that should be earned it is something we should create for ourselves. If we do not approve of ourselves then how should we expect others to approve of our achievements and ourselves.

  29. The approval of everyone around me slowly grew less and less… at least in my mind. Every breath, every glance, every comment made by the people around me had centered itself in my world. My mind revolved around the idea of these people liking me. This was completely new to me; I had never cared before. Every thing started to fade away and all that was left was attention seeking, depressed and confused me. What happened to me? These people had eaten me alive. I used to be so independent… an artist and an explorer. I was sucked into the highschool mindset. Now I knew what I needed to do. Escape… again.

  30. I worked on my body day and night. I didn’t do it for me. I liked eating. I liked doing nothing. At least I thought of did. Until I realized that the suicidal thoughts I had claimed as part of me, weren’t natural. They went away. I was filling my body with so much negativity that it’s only option was to want to no longer function. The response my brain went with after months of grueling training and shaping up, was beyond positive. I liked looking at myself. I wondered if this was how everyone felt.

  31. She doesn’t approve of my decisions. I don’t approve of hers either. I wish she would think of someone else for a change.

  32. I don’t need your approval. The everlasting, mindbending, confusion of wondering whether you are pleased or not. I don’t want to be a burden. I want to help, and to give. I don’t want to burden you, I just need your approval.

  33. The acceptance of everyone around us is one feeling that makes us feel like we won at being a human and we’re worth something in the world. For me, I don’t need approval. I’m free.

  34. Was it so much to ask? Just one smidgen of approval? Eunice’s math teacher never put check marks, just minuses besides incorrect answers, wrote a negative number at the top of the exams, and she had to subtract it from 100 herself. When her English teacher left a whole paragraph of her essay unmarked, she couldn’t tell if it was because the writing was fine, or whether it was doomed to Christian hell and couldn’t be redeemed.

When Eunice became a teacher herself, she made it her guiding principle to always find something in her student’s work to approve of. Because when you felt you were good at *something*, it was a easier to get good at a whole lot more.

  35. Why do we want this so much? Why does our sense of self-worth derive from how much praise, approval, attention other people give us? We should be able to be confident in ourselves as is, but maybe we just think a second opinion is what validates who we are.

  36. Everyone thinks they need the approval of someone. Their parents. Their significant other. The world. In truth, it is simply their own approval they really need.

  37. I am seeking her approval, subtly, with cunning, slice by slice, coming off a platter so begrudgingly carried from suitor to suitor, yet I think she threw me a wink on that pass, and I’m nearly certain I may serve myself at this point. Her approval is the only savory dish worth sampling.

  38. “Why do I need their approval?”

I know that’s the mindset I need to have; I remind myself nearly constantly. But even as I’m thinking those words, I’m wondering what they would think of me for it. I hate that I constantly think like this, and that I’ve never been able to stop.

  39. Approval is the feeling you have when you are fully accepted by those around you, It gives you a sense of purpose and fulfillment as a human being. Approval means that you got it right and that other accept and acknowledge that about you. Approval is important for everyone to have in some capacity.

  40. A thin frown was placed on the young girl’s ruby lips when her father disapproved of her present, stating it was too lowly for him. The girl had tried so hard to win her father’s approval, and with such diligence and effort she had finally thought she had found the best gift she could’ve given her father—a small, elegant pendant she had found in an antique store.
