I burrowed into my covers, snuggled up among the soft plush fabrics. I reached for my teddy bear and hugged him close to my chest, giggling as his fur tickled my face. I was happy. So, so happy. I was warm, and comfortable, and mother loved me, she loved me, and she was back. And there is no better way to feel than that.

It’s 6am, the chirping bird alarm sings, and I’m so groggy below the warm, puffy blankets. He rolls over in one of those big bed-moving heaps, wraps his arm around me and burrows his lips into my neck, smooching kiss after cozy kiss, waking me into the day.
Sometimes, we let ourselves be in the moment A soft landing of snacks, our favorite movies and to burrow under the covers. It’s not lazy, it’s not decadent, it’s leaning into to the softness and taking a moment to ourselves.

He slipped through the crowds of the rush hour.
He was trying to search for someone.
But the air was not light, and the atmosphere was as heavy as the eyelids of 9-to-5 workers.
He went directions without an aim, as if he was burrowing in mud.
But he went through the crowds, and no one was there to wait for
Under the ground they went, as fast as they could manage. Their tiny paws digging through the soil like tiny machines, one paw after another, repeated on end. They knew not what they were searching for, only that it was imperative that they continue their quest, no matter how tired they became.
Soon, a nest began to form. Their burrow dug.

i burrowed deep into the duvet cover
and said, “at last”.
i spend all day
running through tunnels
and
skipping over
potholes,
counting the seconds
to make it home
to the heat
of your arms.

Burrow deep, little rabbit, nose twitching, earthworm swirling and twisting in your walls, brushed by roots, under clover, safe in warm earth
