  1. carbon fiber. my ex boyfriend’s obsessed with it. on his bike. but he might not be my ex anymore? either way he’s obsessed with carbon fiber because it’s super light. too expensive for my taste though. maybe he just thinks he’s cooler with it.

  2. As a younger person in a world all anew,
I truly do not know what to do.
I do not know what this word does mean,
To me only a jumble of letters is seen.
    Only 12 I may be,
So I must go look in a dictionary.

  3. A single molecule that rests on a dot, floating in infinite space. Still, make no mistake–I am special.

  4. carbon is in the air

    not too good
    not too bad

    maybe it’s a name
    no it’s a gas
    carbon…

  5. Carbon is black. Carbon reminds me of Carbon Dioxide poisoning, which is what my great uncle is dying of in the hospital at this very moment. Carbon reminds me of Chemistry class, which I hate with a passion that burns. Carbon burns in gasoline, and then releases the CFL’s that rip through our already gaping o-zone layer. I don’t know if that’s really true, but that’s what I’ve heard.

  6. I think of what makes us…us
The universal element…not in the scientific way…but similar.
It’s like the human element that keeps up together, and makes us who we are.

  7. We are all carbon-based lifeforms worth one tiny particle of stardust. But what we forget is that stardust is brilliant and beautiful beyond measure. When you see the sun, do not just see it as a ball of fire. See it as a conglomeration of starpower. The swarming of heat, the black flares in globules. It is a moving energy source that is very alive. Just like we are.

    Belinda Roddie
  8. science class is brutal.

  9. She had no idea what that was supposed to mean. Check the carbon something-or-other? Right. Like she was supposed to know how to do that. If only Jarom were still around…
But that kind of thinking could do nothing for her. He was gone, and that’s all there was to it.

  10. Dioxide
    Monoxide

Makes me think of high school chem
Sitting next to rob but not paying attention, because I was watching him draw on his notebook.

    He was so talented.
    He never knew I existed

  11. Carbon slowly enters the earths atmosphere making it just one small particle among many others, could this resemble the way we live? be born into the world as one tiny almost insignificant thing however, like carbon we all hold reason to be here.

    Arita

  14. It’s what makes a pencil. We can write with it. And thus, we can make carbon love, hate, destroy, promise, lie, comfort, despise. What a wonderful life exists for carbon in a pencil. It can do anything, and never take the blame for what has happened, because at the end of the day, it is all your words. Just different specks of carbon.

  15. Carbon is the basis of all life. It creates matter. It holds all things dear to us, creates all that we live in. It’s ubiquitous, everywhere. You can’t hide from carbon. It encapsulates us and contains all that we are. Carbon is us.

  28. Carbon is essential to anything being organic in the world; it makes up everything. What makes it interesting is we keep producing more… too much of it. Well CO2 to be specific. We’re destroying ourselves with what we’re made of.

    Faythe
  29. science class. sophomore year. what a beautiful time of life. i learned about all sorts of delicious learny-nerdy smarty pants type things. carbon. silicon. periodic tables. etcetera.

these days it’s work for work’s sake and smiles about happy memories. i’ll never learn something i don’t care about again.

    Matty M.
  30. Carbon. That’s what her entire life came down to, in the end. She spent her youth gallivanting the earth, plunging her unwanted existence deep into the bowels of the planet, digging in long after she should have gone home.

  34. carbon monoxide poising was the final reason of death. Why would he do this to us, he would never. I knew him for most of my life. He would never leave like this. It is up to me to find what really happened. I will search for as long as it takes to find the truth. I know this is not the truth. If I must to this alone then so be it. But where to start? I suppose the beginning…

  35. carbon is the way i feel when i think about you

  36. We are all made of carbon apparently. Do not ask me the specifics of this scientific fact. I actually have no clue. We could be made of donkey dung and God’s farts as much as I know. My scientific knowledge is really quite poor. I’m more of a history and English literature girl…

  37. We’re all made of carbon right? It’s the building block element of everything isn’t it. I’m not quite sure, but lets say it is – lets say that that’s what it is.
Everything starts with carbon, and even everything ends it goes into making everything else. Circle of life and all that jazz but it’s nice, it’s nice to think that the parts of me and the parts of you are made from the same thing, we’re cut from the same bone (which incidentally is also made of carbon) and that when I’m over here and you’re over there it’s all just carbon, everything in between is just carbon and I think it makes me feel better because it’s like there isn’t actually 120 miles between us, there aren’t towns and cities and sheep and people and busses and cars.
    It’s just carbon
