  1. Growing up, the story my grandfather always told me was the fable of the mouse.

This mouse was no ordinary mouse. It was a he, bigger and furrier than all the other mice.

  3. Fables are possibly true stories, but maybe they aren’t true at all. You can find the world in a fable, a dinner party left untouched, a bedroom empty, a princess locked in a tower. Perhaps, the veracity of a fable isn’t in its accuracy at all, perhaps the truth comes from something deeper, so wellspring of feeling of thought.

  4. It was an interesting fable. Still, it wouldn’t have any bearing on her life. She didn’t see any way these characters, their world, or this story had relevance to her situation. She looked into Sam’s eyes to thank them for trying.

  5. Fables are an age-old means of delivering lessons to children in palatable, bite-sized pieces that even the adults who narrate them have not yet learned to swallow.

  6. The fable included smart and dumb animals, with the message of greed. The smart animals knew the foods to eat and the dumb ones ate junk food and their stomachs hurt. The children read the story out loud before their snack of cakes and sodas.
