  1. One thing that touring taught me was that, if you have to be at a festival, the place to be is backstage with an Access All Areas Pass. One might think this is because of the girls, the nice food, the ligging, the posing, but I liked it mainly for the clean toilets.

Growing old is a crock, isn’t it?

  2. A festival is a gathering of people. One time, I went to a festival and there were lots of food. There were big sculptures and many designs. It was so captivating. I enjoyed a lot.

    Kim K.
  3. The festival was tomorrow. It was all he could think about, as he helped his mother prepare their family’s dinner. What would the festival bring tomorrow? Acrobats? Fire eaters? Fortune tellers? He looked over at his sister, laying on the couch. Would there be a fortune teller who could tell him if his sister would live to see next year’s festival?

  4. The lights have all been turned on. The people dance; some are dressed up. Happiness flows and celebration unites these people together.

    Andrew Duback

  7. Festival? Is that like a party? Yeah, I don’t party too much, I’m not real big on the whole party thing…Yeah…

  8. i dread festival. i just get this horrid feeling in the pit of my stomach. there are many reasons for this, you see. for one im afraid of messing up on stage, even though i do nothing. secondly im afraid that everyone will hate me there. and thirdly im afraid youll leave me. it all makes me sick to my stomach.

  9. A celebration. people everywhere. music. colours. sounds. smells. movement. slow but somewhat rhythmic. laughter; yes, there’s that too.

  10. The festival was coming, and she didn’t even have a decent pair of shoes. Once again, she would be forced to watch from the sidelines in her plain blue dress as her friends paraded around in their fancy, garish clothes.

  11. ‘Tis the season to be musically fulfilled. As the summer approaches, you should be aware of the music festival selection. Which one will you choose? How far are you willing to travel, how much money are you willing to spend to be graced with the musical expression?

    Adeline
  12. a party. everyone celebrating. a colourful event. lots of movement. and noise. there’s got to be noise. wait. it’s music. and people chatting, that’s part of the din. laughter. yes, there’s laughter. and a kid crying over dropped ice cream. balloons. there are balloons too.

    Malyn
  13. These crowded spaces, filled with lights and sounds and unfamiliar faces. It doesn’t help that some people are wearing cheap plastic masks. It doesn’t help that I’ve wandered off to find that old fortune teller, whom told me, last year, that I’d find “the one” tonight. ‘Cause I can’t find her. Her booth is nowhere to be found.

  14. I went to Mexico when I was like 3 years old. The great thing about Mexico is how humbling it is. I got a Coke in real Mexico during a festival, and they put it in a baggie then rubberband a straw to it. They do this so they can get the money back from recycling the bottle. Also, the drinks are usually warm.

  15. I’ll be waiting for you
    at a silver booth
I’ll wear a mask of mahogany
    painted with shapes and forms
    of wingless birds
    and bones.

    LOLOLOLLL i’m dumb

  16. What a great day! Festival! The colors, the crowds, good vibe. Festival conjurs old time for me. Old times as in me devil, painted faces, women with jugs of ale, the plaque coming to town. Burnt leaves, horses draped on black, maybe not such a good time.

    Barbara
  17. It is lights and sounds. People laughing and screaming in delight. The pop of fire works. The smell of fried food. Symbols of the day spread everywhere. Hugs and greetings of congratulations. Then the question “So, When are the human sacrifices?”

  18. Festivals bring forth in my mind images of red lanterns, twinkle lights at night, foreign places I’ve never been, the sound of laughter and talking and children screaming as they run too fast around old couples holding hands. Images of impressive fair rides, lighting up the night sky, taking us up in the air to feel the night breeze above the crowd, to get a little closer to heaven.

  19. The festival buzzed with excitement. Chatter from old folks and families and bubbly teens overwhelmed the chipper music reverberated across chimes and stretches of decorations. In the midday sun, shadows cast on smiling faces.

  20. Every September, we celebrated Michaelmas. There used to be a giant black cauldron, seemingly straight out of a witch’s chicken-legged home, placed on a bed of orange coals to create the best soup anyone had ever tasted. Bread dough was kneeded into the shape of a dragon, children ran wild after loose chickens, play lines rapidly rehearsed, and a day of festive mayham ensued.

  21. Like a growing festival in her mind, she travelled through her thoughts.

  23. Freaks on the avenue thought that the festival was an excuse to run off with the politicians daughters and make it known that they were going to get money for them or else. Those idiots were so high they didn’t even realize that the driver was the mayor’s personal assassin. It wasn’t pretty!

  24. These festivities are meant to fill that hole in your heart left by those troughs in life, when you fall, and just want to pretend it’s alright.

    Nishat Tasnim
  25. A festival of poop! The baby loves sweet potatoes, peas, bananas, applesauce, and any other thing that mixes together into a fragrant festival in her drawers. It’s a party every time, and I wish others were invited.

  26. worldy dramatic witty and fun how could you wish to be anywhere else?
looking around i see gaze after gaze staring upon what I cannot define
to see is to dream to know is to die to wish is far better than leaving thy self
it is rugged and jagged and has not one main focus it’s a festival after all it needs not to be refined.

  27. When I was a kid there was a summer festival called Sunday in the Park. They would typically have one once per month on a Sunday. Hari Kirsinhas, druggies, grass drellers would gather.

    Sandee Whalen

  29. bangladesh is amazing. The festival of Eid is amazing ehrn it happens. It amazes me that everyone unites for this one cause of celebration. It is amzing how Americans can’t do this.

  32. When I was little, I heard people talking about the “Festival of Lights.” I told my parents I wanted to go. They took me to the County Fair at night. I thought that was really cool. Now, I realize that they were just circumventing some religious stuff that they didn’t understand or want to explain to me. Same thing with Catechism.

  33. Jensen thought there for a minute. The whole barn was filled with black-suited individuals armed to the teeth. It was a regular festival of Ninjas, he thought. “Just where the fuck is ‘back’ to this guy?” Jensen thought.

“So, you’re name is…?” Jensen queried.

  34. f(x) used to mean nothing to me, no matter how hard I tried to understand it. Now, I use it in everyday life, not just in math, to think about processes that I deal with all the time. Happy Function Day. (Yea, I just made that up.)

  35. Festival of delight. There were the fiestas that the parishes held every year. They really were festivals – complete with carnival rides and booths and food and usually some kind of dance for the adults. These events were enormous fundraisers for the parish. We called them fiesta for the local reason. Now we have festivals that are music or art related and cost a fortune. I mostly find them boring and rarely attend . As a kid I loved the parish fiesta b/c it always came right at the end of the the school year – it meant sumer was days away.

  36. the spanish peopls have a lot of festivals. i studied spain festivals are very festive.

  37. I will be attending a festival next week in Quebec city with my school. It will be very fun. I’ll wear fur and pretend to be a french speaking canadian and drink hot cocoa with friends and admire hats in store fronts, too expensive for my meager pocketbook.

  38. Bruce and Jason were at the Gotham Festival for the first time ever. Jason was running to all the booths and shops and smiling like any ten year old at festival time. “CAN I HAVE THIS PLEEEASE?” Bruce was startled out of his thoughts by a very tiny Jason holding up an equally tiny goldfish.

    Jenna
  39. If I went to the event alone, I’d meet several like-minded people to hang out with afterwards; that is the thought. Another thought, and another thought, and I look up to see the time has passed to make it in time at all.

  40. Life is a festival if you want it to be. All you have to do is wake each AM and be glad for that day, put your face to the sun, and be happy you are alive.
