His sister glared at him from across the rom, her blindfold was off and laying across her knees as she dabbed at her cheeks with a wet cloth. “You still crying over that thing?” She asked, sickened by his sentimentality. Tavis glanced at his sister with a broken smile. “Well, yea. I’ve been wearing it for so long, I don’t know how to …not have it.” He cradled the heap of metal. Without a knock on the door, Zas entered the twins’ private quarters. He looked first to Thorn, measuring the distance between her and himself. Once satisfied that he was safe he turned to Tavis, his broad grin falling as he saw the man on the brink of tears. “The bell broke, eh?” He asked reaching out to cup his hands around Tavis’. The sad man looked up with a half-smile. “Yea, it’s alright though I suppose. I mean… she doesn’t need it anymore…” Zas frowned for a moment then gently scooped the metal into his own hands. “I’ll be back in a moment.”
