  2. the fluorescent wounds on my past keep me asleep.
They hold me a nurture me better than a father could.
    Better than a mother couldn’t.

    Buzzing, humming
Brings harsh, artificial light into the room
    It hurts your head.
    It lights your world.

  8. I hate fluorescent lights. They’re garishly bright and don’t flatter anyone, ever. I don’t really care if they “save the planet” or not. I’m not staying on this Earth for long, so I’m not going to use those “green” lights.

    Augustus Hofman
  10. The florescent lights were bright, almost blinding. They revealed everything in their bright colours. It bothered me how I could make out every single freckle on the face of the imperfect face next to me. Every pock-mark showing on the teacher at the front of the class. I think they chose fluorescent lights on purpose when designing schools. They try to make us feel imperfect. They try to separate us.

  11. The fluorescent lights hummed gently in the background- an odd, thrumming sound that was strangely comforting. If you want to see just ask!” “But this is way more entertaining!” he said impishly.

  12. If there is such thing as a hell
I would imagine it would be painted white
and it would be made of aluminum
and Dora (from Dora the Explorer) and her
    friend’s voices would echo throughout
    the vast, cold empty rooms
    lit so unnaturally
by rows upon rows of fluorescent lighting.

  16. White lights shining above students as they trundle through the hallways, shadowless. Bells ring from nowhere. A buzz that seems to have no beginning and no end. Boredom beyond comprehension. Heads sliding down slowly perspiring palms. Peanut butter and jelly in a mashed-up pair of white bread slices under the blinding lights, once again. Miniature suns, phosphorescent snowfall all the day long.

    Jake Bittle

  26. Unlucky in love…

Like a fly drawn to the bright of the flourescent light,
In the dark of life to me the feeling of love seemed to be like it
As i guided my flight in love so bright,
The fly not knowing the danger flew into the light,
Burnt in the heat, I fell to my feet,
The fly believed falsly the light to be the moon that it tried to reach
,I believed the her to be the love I need,

But the fly won’t get another chance to chase the moon in the dark,
I will continue to fly towards these bright lights in the sky,
I know one of them is my lunar ecstasy,
to the brightest one i’ll be drawn,
Unlucky in love i may not forever be

Not the best way to start off date night, but she hadn’t picked this place. He had. He picked everything. She was wearing blue because he liked it. Why did she let him run her this way? She wasn’t really sure. He upstaged her at every turn. She felt exposed when they were together. Vulnerable. The fluorescent lighting in the room wasn’t making her look so pale — he washed all the color away.
