  9. half again. half again as much. I want half again as much, please. That’s always what I say in when I go to a restaurant. It goes over very well, as you can imagine. You should just see the look on the waitress’ faces. Sometimes they get nasty. “What, ya fat hog, you need more?”

  10. I was sitting down in the basement, next to the wine cellar. My second bottle was almost half gone, and I thought to myself “man, wouldn’t it be great if I had a party down here.” So I dusted off my old record player, put on a bb king record, and let myself go. Suddenly the family was here, my sons, my grand children, and even their children. Suddenly that bottle was half full.

  19. John popped out of the kitchen, holding two cups. He set one down in front of Sherlock and the other remained in his hands. He sipped from it quietly. On its rim, he saw Sherlock staring confusedly at his cup. He gave a small grunt of pleasure before turning to him, “What is it? Something wrong?”

    “The cup is half-empty, John.”

John looked at the contents of the cup before shaking his head, “No, it’s half-full.”

“What–you were supposed to fill it with tea. Of course I’d complain about how much is in it not how much isn’t.”

“Well, it’s better than an empty cup, right?”

Sherlock looked at him skeptically, “But I asked you to make tea.”

“I could have said no,” John leaned back against his favourite chair.

“But you didn’t. You went in the kitchen and made tea.”

“That doesn’t mean I’ll make it for you.”

“You set it down in front of me.”

“It could’ve been for Mycroft for all you care. I just set it down–does it mean it’s yours?”

“I’d assume it is, since I asked for one.”

“But did I nod at your request?”

    “Yes.”

    “No, I didn’t.”

“Yes, you did. I could remember it as bright as day.”

John was getting peeved, “Oh, did you?”

“Yes. In fact, I can retell the whole event,” Sherlock sat up straight, “You went inside our flat like always after work, clearly tired by the expression on your face and quite peeved judging by the whiteness of your knuckles. I called out, “Tea, please,” and you looked at me at the corner of your eye–” John opened his mouth, but– “How can I tell? Your body is angled towards the bookshelves, between the windows and my position, so it isn’t hard to tell. Also–”

“Okay, you know what? Just–” John raised his hands up in defeat and stood up, grabbing the cup in front of Sherlock. He leaned his body towards the kitchen, however he was stopped by Sherlock’s left arm. He sneaked it upon John’s waist and used his right hand to grab the cup on John’s hands. John looked back at him and saw Sherlock drinking from it. Then, he gave John the cup again.

“That was a delightful half-filled cup of tea.” He smiled at him before letting go and sitting again on his chair, eyes focused on the floor.

John blinked for a couple of seconds before shrugging and reaching for his cup on the coffee table. He drank from it, eyes locked on Sherlock. When he was done, he stared at him openly before pressing his lips firmly and nodding, “Glad you liked it.”

  20. Half? Half of what? Half a life? Can you live half a life? You either live or you don’t right? But half of it? What if you waste your life and when you start getting really old is when you start living? Could that be considered living half a life? But, who would want that? Shouldn’t we start enjoying life as soon as we get it?

Half of life is lived without consent, the other half is me choosing.

  31. Half a pint of milk sat on the counter. All he could do was to stare at it. It was the last thing she touched. And now she was gone. Milk was not something he could keep forever.
