  1. The monk climbed the mountain slowly. His sight was growing dim for he had not allowed himself to stop, and this was his third day on the climb. It was the cold and dreary pre-dawn, and the sun had yet to rise, but as he reached the top, the world presented itself to him bathed in the new light of the day. The image was engraved on his heart and his mind was instilled with a permanent peace that came with seeing the unmarred beauty that the earth held on it’s own. No humans had destroyed this place, and he could see everything in a new light.

The boy was off getting help, as he always did. He was proud. The boy had overcome a lot, he was just glad that he had managed to instill some goodness in him before he passed. The old man closed his eyes with a smile, and they did not open again.

  22. When people make beer. The have to still it out. That instills an emotion I guess. Like, happiness because they get beer. And then more happiness when the get drunk. And then anger when their head hurts the next morning. And then sadness when their wife gets mad. Repeat. Right now my dad is instilling my anger. A lot. But it’s not from beer. I wish it was. Then there was a chance he’d wake-up, a chance for help, because he’s just as in denial as if he was an alcoholic.

We are separate beings when it comes to reading yet many of us are engaged with the activity and love it. Perhaps it is that we instill humanity when we write and when we read.
