  8. I managed my life; I couldn’t tell you who managed theirs. They needed constant approval that what they were doing was “right.” It wasn’t, ironically enough, but it was nonetheless tiring beyond belief. I did whatever I wanted, no questions asked. Maybe that’s why it was so easy to stand up against my friends and let them know that the way they led their lives was something I couldn’t live with.

  17. I hate generalizing, but why is it that everyone hates their managers? Is it because when they take up the famed title, they actually trade their souls to the company in exchange for making every other employee’s life miserable? I myself have experienced two managers where I previously worked. One seemed like an angel and the other was purely the opposite. But in the end, I found out that both had taken advantage of me. Both, in their own cunning ways.

  18. I looked into his glasses, and saw nothing but my own reflection staring back at me. Did he want me to passively take his advice, to be a happy-go-lucky worker bee, or did he secretly want me to challenge him, and assert myself as a leader and a powerhouse among my peers?

Ashley is a manager and she manages. She manages well. She tries to turn me into something I’m not and I oblige as best I can. I smile without cease. I don’t even remember why or that I’m doing it. It’s a good thing I’m so good at faking sex.

  29. How come it’s always manager? Where’s the other great words like “fart” or “dog?” I was hoping for something awesome like the word “TESTICULAR” or something other than manager. Managers are boring and depressing to be around. I don’t wanna write about them.

Affirmative action had not been kind to his brothers nor his friends and he’d been sweating over the announcement for days. He wasn’t going to be picked, he’d told himself over and over again. Now he had been. He just wondered how in the world he was going to keep the position.
