Emotions reaching out like tentacles; each lengthy, wriggling limb reaching forever more for that one, sweet touch. Like a curious octopus, I can’t help but feel myself squeezing in for that one, last inch.
I like the way his arms fold across me
timeless, tight and protecting.
A hundred hands with a thousand fingers,
brushing against my skin in a display of affection
the likes of which I’ve never felt before.
It was her least favorite animal of all time. The many legs, the inky cowardice… the strange similarity to her first name. It was bad enough that the twins always seemed to pick her as their victim of the day, but it was far worse to be compared to such a disgusting creature.
Eight tentacles wrapped around my waist as I struggled to propel myself to the surface. But his grip tightened, and I knew these thoughts would be my last.

The acid trip trained me. I never did drugs again after I saw that giant octopus trying to leech the life out of my friends.
The eight arms writhed as the great creature moved though the sea. He sought out his prey, a large dark ship. A ship known to his master. The he would wrap tentacles around the wooden hull and squeeze until it cracked. Down into the locker would her captain fall for crossing the lord of the sea.
She had eight legs all wrapped around me. I didn’t want to be free ever again. This was where I wanted to be, all wrapped up and held onto by suction cups.

It was a beast that tugged at my leg then. I saw nothing but water. Blind, I. I writhed and writhed. Tried to swim. Tried to escape. But it was too late. I’d lost my leg. I felt no pain. I felt nothing.
I picked up a menu to steady my mind. If I concentrate on something — anything — I will not panic. It was a tapas place; offerings leaned heavily toward chorizo, manchego cheese, and octopus.

I have never seen a live octopus. I just think they look pretty funny and kind of scary at the same time. But I think it tastes good in a shrimp and octopus cocktail.
The octopus grabbed the submarine and dragged it down, down into the depths. Green light shone weakly through the portholes – where would such illumination come from, at such depths?
He dragged me in, took everything I had, and strangled me to the point of death. Everything I did, I thought of him first. My life began to revolve around him. And my life slowly faded away into the depths of nothingness.
Johnny walked in, cradling his stuffed octopus in his arms. “How are ya doing today, Johnny?,” Dave asked, but Johnny just buried his face in the toy, muttering into its tentacles that he wanted to go back in his life.

What is the plural word for octopus? Octupusses? No. Octopi? That’s just strange. It sounds like a delicious pie, but it’s an eight-tentacled creature that could kill you in a minute. I don’t approve. I don’t approve at all.
I looked at the tentacled monstrosity sitting on my plate and cocked my head to the side quizzically, as I often do. Poking at it with my fork, I realized I’d never eaten food quite as strange as this before. Shrugging internally, I put a morsel in my mouth and began to chew.
When I think of an octopus, I think of sushi. I didn’t have sushi the first time I had octopus, however. I was ten, and we were at a fancy restaurant with my grandparents, the grandparents I barely even speak about. I saw that they had octopus on the menu, and was horrified at the idea; in response, my grandfather ordered the appetizer, and we discovered as a family that it tasted like rubbery chicken.
