  1. Scared is something I try not to be, for it represents fear…and to have faith I must not fear or be scared , but hold tight to what I know is true.

  2. The spires in the distance rose before us, their shadows falling upon our path. I was scared we would be traveling into pitch dark as we approached their bases. We were dwarfed by the scale of them already and they were still on the horizon, the setting sun behind making them glow and shimmer as if mirages.

  3. Passing by in the night, fingertips almost touching at the ends of arms outstretched, but no such luck, a small gasp escaping both of their lips as their locked gazes are hit with the realization that in seconds she’ll be gone forever and he will fear again.

  5. Did you know being too comfortable can make you easily fearful? It can. You are never challenged to change when you’re comfortable. You lock into a mode of thought and stay there. Moving out of that mode is challenging. Challenges drive up your anxiety. If you don’t stop to ask yourself to check your assumptions, you will crash right into that wall of panic ahead. Who wants to be scared to death?

  6. i am scared of everything these days: rocks, trees, combine harvesters, cats and dogs, rain, faeries, and trolls. My days are spent under shining star-spangled blankets of frosted gloom and inky depression, I do not know when all of this started but I think it was the day I awoke and panicked when I found myself covered in strawberry dust.

  7. It’s easy to think it would be best to live with no fear, but being scared means you have something to lose. Living with no fear is exhilarating but ultimately empty. Being consumed with fear means you play it too safe and avoid living. Fear has a place; there has to be a balance somewhere.

  11. This word hit personal to me, Not sure if that makes any sense. I was scared if I am taking the right path or not. But I am also so numb of getting scared.

  12. I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  14. He was scared. The scraping of the nails or that is what it sounded like to him, were coming from the room above him. Where would he hide if his greatest fear came into form? He was home alone. His parents had left just a few minutes before the sound appeared in the background of the noise of his game. He wanted to race out of the house and run to the closest place shelter. Yet, he was frozen in fear. His brain seemed to stop working. The fear had done something to his thought process and now he believed he was facing the end of his life.

  18. She was scared, but I was tormented. A furious rage started in my toes, worked its way up my legs, through my stomach and into my shoulders. Which were now squared off. Her quezzy-ness made me indestructible. They came in one by one, but the three hungry rabbits on the trail were no match for me on this day.

  20. There are a lot of things that cause a lot of people to be scared. Some are height, ghosts, darkness, small places, or animals. Mine is something more abstract, something that needs more help to fix than just ‘face your fears’. I am scared of what people think of me.

I’ll squeeze your hand to remind you that I’m here – I am present, corporeal, quivering and undulating flesh for you to cling to. It is my warmth that keeps you sane. It is the beat of my heart that provides the tempo for your fear to subside before the monsters come.
