  11. Nights at home usually end with me leaving the dinner table still hungry and running up to the bathroom to sit in the tub. Fully clothed, under the running shower. I sit there to think, about the day, about people, about me. I don’t want to admit that I cry there sometimes, my tears mix with the water so that way if someone forced their way in they wouldn’t be able to tell that I’ve been crying.

  22. The shower was bloody, the water still running down the drain and mixing with the redness. She stared at her hands – they were the same horrible color. She needed to get out, to run, to look away from the blood in the shower, but she was rooted to the spot. She’d just killed her lover. Her everything. The man she wanted to marry.
And over what? Over a tiny, teeny fight. How had this gotten so out of control?

  23. Our shower is getting refitted after exploding and completely flooding out lower level. This was fantastic in two ways, firstly the flood caused such a massive furore that the sense of panic and chaos gave way to an incredible adrenaline surge (as pathetic as it is to say out loud) and secondly it gave us an excuse to smash all of the tiles in the bathroom (in the name of “re-fitting”) which was incredibly cathartic and not to mention fun. We also wrote our names on the wall behind the tiles – of nothing else lasts of my in this world I hope my scrawled name does.

  32. When the heavens open high above, and rain comes tumbling fast,
When your feet are tired, and soaking wet, and you’ve stumbled home at last.
I will wait and stay to dry you off and replace one shower with another.
My endless affection will beam you dry, and offer you a cuppa.

As the shower outside draws to an end, and the raindrops cease to fall,
My love for you grows stronger still, like the sun – a flaming fire ball.

When the rains return, just come to me, and I’ll shower you with all my love and respect.
