  1. Nothing would please me more than to agree with you. Even on the sonar you are out of range, below depth, I can’t track where you are coming from. Get a grip on reality, periscope up, come about, surface and wave. Let people know what you are thinking and maybe we could hear what you have to say and talk to you about your ideas. Don’t torpedo us exepecting us to be grateful. You need to start the conversation and engage other people.

  3. Searching. Watching. There eyes are upon me. I might have been spotted. They have all that new fancy equipmemt. Sonars and the such. I stand no chance. But I want my freedom.

  4. i was in charge of the sonar when we went under water in our great big submarine that winter. it was a dangerous job, a very dangerous mission for all of us in fact, but the curiosity that science ignites in men and women can never been destroyed by the what ifs of our fears.

  5. sound boom lunar moon catapulting light from the far room

  6. UUUUgh, sonar again. I guess this is the word of the day?
This is my first day here and Im determined to break this writers block scourge thing to become a great writer exiled from Kenya.

  7. Iv seen thousands of movies but we dont have sonars around here. Maybe the military

  8. Deep sea submarines being quiet as night, whales talking to each other about the follies of man. Find the fish with the fish finder, isn’t that cheating, really? Like poaching deer with the bright lights on a redneck’s pick-up truck. The bats that have found a home in our ceiling squeak to each other…and alert the cats that they have new prey for the night.

  9. Sounds sort of scientific but i also think about things like dolphins and bats using sonar to navigate. Generally this would not be a word”thanklessd choose to write about voluntarily, it,s too scientific to interest me,

  10. The way she sought me out in a crowd. What else could it have been. I was the prey again. She swam over to our table and I could speak none of my thoughts my skin. I was no more use than blubber. Suffice to say, my mother, bless her, had ruined another party. In a not too dissimilar fashion to my older brother’s tenth birthday.

  11. Sonar is how I saw my babies for the first time. When I first saw my daughter via ultrasound I dubbed her “the prawn” – but in that prawn I could see life and sheer perfection. With my son there was a speck.

  12. This is a thing that enables to see sounds that are not heard below water. You can see a graph on the screen and see things below water surface as they bounce back sounds from the sonar – bip bip bip. Very useful for submarines in order to see what they cannot see ahead of them.

    Kasia
  13. For years I worked with the environmentalists
saving the whales from behind a desk
before meeting for cocktails at six.

But when I awoke from how I thought things should be
    And greeted who I am,
That’s when you and I sat before the sea
    And watched the whales
    Saving themselves.

  15. Sonar rays are all I can really think of when I hear the word “sonar”. Dolphins, whales, and I’m sure plenty other animals use sonar rays for communication and navigation. Humans use sonar to map the ocean and find lost vessels. Ummmm, sonar is an interesting word to me, yet something I don’t know much about.

  17. The beep, beep, beeping of the sonar machine controlled my thoughts. How was I meant to focus with the raucous overwhelming my ears? Focus! This was life or death. The fate of my friends was in my hands.

  23. The sonar radar blared twice, threetimes, four times. He couldn’t get her out of his head. He’d buried himself below, int he deep, in the ocean, and the green flash summoned her back to him, pulled him up to the surface, with his brain, and all that despair. Nothing would keep her away. Nothing could keep her buried… and when they were together, nothing kept them alive.

    Daniel Robinson
  24. So, now we write about sonar. Or not. I think of vast ships ploughing through the oceans. Ships with blips. A scene with a screen. All a little – shall we say – ominous? Technology for war.

    Tim Burton
  25. He wached the sonar flares going up, one day I’ll be flying higher and faster than that he thought. Everyone thought he was mad ofcourse.

  26. The creature came into full view as I focus the sonar readings. It was MASSIVE. Beyond any size of creature we on Earth had seen before. It moved about, and over the attached microphone, we could hear the beautiful sounds it was making. It was…. calling to us.

    Ashley
  27. A blip appeared on the screen. What was it? No one on the ship could figure out. The size of the thing was just beyond scale, and it… moved.. It was organic. Can you believe it? We have uncovered a new species!

  28. Sometimes I wish I was dolphin, it would be pretty neat to swim and dive and do it all gracefully and beautifully. Then of course there’s the bad part about being a dolphin. The poor guys get brutally killed for their meat in other parts of the world. Did you know that Dolphin meat is actually high in cholesterol. So if you happen to be someone who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone who is associated with that type of illegal act. Then you may want to pass that along. There was a documentary film about it all! Respect Dolphins!

  29. Sonar is what whales use to find their way around the ocean. It sounds mostly like this mmmmmuuuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhh. It is also used by submarines which sounds more like this: bow… bow…. bow… Sonar is useful for animals who cannot see everything in front of them and need to not run into things.

  30. The sonar waves swept the bottom of the sea floor, penetrating the heavy sand with even heavier waves of detection.

    “Do you see anything, Captain?”

The graying captain simply looked away from the screen, overlooking the creature in their midst.

“Nothing. Let us go.” He said somberly.

  31. Beep beep beep. Captain Nemo. Submarines. US Navy. The Village People. Gay. Rainbows. Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Dorothy Gale.

He ran around and around the front lawn giggling; pushing through the piles of rusty leaves, with a bent old pipe held out in front of him.
“Mummy, it’s my sonar. I’m gona to find treasure. Then we don’t got to move away anymore.”

  35. I’m not sure what a sonar is…. Maybe it’s important…. I don’t know. I don’t care. I do however enjoy saying the word. It makes me happy. Life tends to take away my happiness a lot so…. To find something to make me happy. I really like that. I do so hope that one day I’ll be able to truly know happiness again. Like I did when I was a child. That would be pleasant.

  36. That dog has sonar. If you think you can hide from it, you’re dead wrong. You see, it sees by hearing. It doesn’t matter if you’re completely silent – so long as sound can bounce off of you it can see you. Unless you’re wearing wool.

I’ve said it like 12 hundred time since I started writing this. This is really difficult but I love the idea of it.

    Bailey Elizabeth
  39. Sonar was a girl whose name felt solar and boyish like a son. But she worked it. She wore plaid skirts and ribbons in her hair. Two braids. One was the evil twin to the other. But she worked it.
