  22. He stamps his foot and yells, “I don’t need this today! Do you realize how difficult this is? And now…”
I stand in the kitchen dripping wet, just having gotten out of the shower after hearing the explosion of the coffee pot. I am thinking that the coffee pot is now MY problem, so I don’t understand why he is so upset. I tap my foot gently, breathe deeply, open my mouth, and calmly say, “Don’t worry dear. I’ll take care of it. You go right ahead and get to work.”
“But Ann. It’s a mess, and now I’ll have to stop for breakfast–just adding to my day!”
Again I am thinking, yes it adds to my day too. I smile. I take his travel mug and sift the coffee and grounds apart and fill it. I wink at him and lightly, ever so lightly, kiss his cheek.
He, finally smiles, takes the mug, turns and leaves.
Now I stand in the kitchen, still wet, knowing I will be late for work.

  27. Broken headphones and pre-licked stamps litter the desks of my brain, swirling like a flushing toilet when people talk to me. Every time I hear another voice and everything flutters up like a snow globe and I have to rummage around trying to find the answers lost inside my head.

  35. Where’d it all go wrong, is a q that’s been asked of me countless times. When did I go right is a more insightful one. From a bespectacled self-confessed nerd who loved stamp-collecting to a teenager who learned to love stamping on peoples’ faces and heads, my story follows.

  36. Stamps. Big stamps, small stamps, expensive stamps, cheap stamps. So many different types of stamps. Sometimes they’re perfect for what you need. Sometimes they get lost in the drawer. Sometimes, and this is what I hate the most, they don’t fit on the envelope the way you need them to, making your letter masterpiece suddenly horrific.

    Alicia Rice
  37. I licked the back of the tacky stamp. It tasted bitter, like chemicals. Somehow I didn’t mind the taste though. It reminded me of so many other letters I had sent to loved ones on special occasions throughout the years.

  39. I wrote a letter to my grandmother the other day, and when I went to mail it, I realized I had no stamps. I decided to go to the corner store and buy some, but when I got there, I discovered I had forgotten to bring my purse.

    Mrs. P.
  40. I have stamps on my hand right now. I was at my friends house and discovered a stamp marker. I thought to myself “i haven’t seen one of these in years!” so I kind of went over board and covered my hand in blue butterfly childhood memories.
