  2. Die Sticks sind überall. Sie stecken in Zahnstocherbehältern. In USB-Eingängen an Computern und Laptops. In Stieleis.

  7. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me.”
Those are the words that the girl lived by, her light smirk always taunting others who got too close. She was far too much for anyone in her town, in her city to handle, and therefore, people talked behind hands in hushed voices about her. They knew her habits, they knew how she was and how she acted. They all knew this…

And yet they could not help but be drawn in my her simple song.

Now it’s a structure, a support for your tent, where you hide and plot and plan and invent. When you’ve made it back home, your mom tells you no, and sadly you leave your friend stick in the snow.

  24. Stick and stones may break my bones but words only break my heart. It’s sad how much easier it is to break a heart, whether anyone believes it or not. The heart is not strong. It’s resilient. It breaks and heals, over, and over, and over. Until the day it stops ticking.

bones can heal (most of he time) words always leave a scar. even if it just a little one, you know it’s there. and that’s really all that counts. because if you know it’s there it bothers you therefore words hurt. words will always hurt.

Sticks, folded over one another to create a mysterious geometric figure, crunched beneath the heels of her shoes as she walked, her veins bleeding with purpose and determination. When she saw it, her chest tightened slightly. At last, she had come to this place.

  39. Sticks all in a line, brown and skinny. THey roll down the hill in that row. Nobody looks, nobody listens. The sticks are there but nobody knows. The world for them is that view from that hill as they roll down to the bottom. What will they see when they hit the ground?

  40. Folks yousta say we lived in the sticks. Sure there was a long drop out back, and we had to put up the red flag if we wanted the postman to stop and take the letters we had to post. But there weren’t many sticks – it was hard to get a tree to grow that far away from the Platte.
