  5. A long way down in the earth. Busy passengers running and jumping in trains. Staircases constantly moving. People rushing past each other to their destinations. Wanting to get to the end and not enjoying the ride. Smells of sweat and old tennis shoes fill the air.

  7. Subway is New York. Luas is where i am.

Subway is August 2008. Subway is the holidays of all holidays where i escape reality and do whatever i want. Subway is 5 weeks with Loan. Subway is celebrating our graduation.

Luas is two years later. Luas is being independant. Luas is having dreams I wish to – and will – accomplish. Luas is being back in my own country after having lived in Switzerland most of my life. Luas makes me happy. Luas is my home. Luas is where i create my reality and do whatever i want.

  9. sHE SAT ALONE ON THE SUBWAY wondering if anyone was going to see her. She looked up, wishing the suns rays would hit her face, but she knew they would not, as she was sitting on the bus underground. She waited for him.. he was supposed to meet her here.. but after hours and hours of waiting.. she realized that he was not going to come. So therefore she sat.. wondering if anyone would see her. Anyone would care. Maybe someone would hlp her, maybe someone would love her… because he didn’t. He had proved it so.

  10. I had to ride the subway yesterday, there a guy singing outside union station, he was actually surprisingly good. For once the tunnels didn’t smell like dried urine, but I suppose this is likely the result of me being so used to the smell after riding the subway for so long.

  11. Riding slowly but surely towards another tunnel. careening forwards and back and again and again…It wont stop until you get to where your going…desks and children and tears and homeless and hungry all mixed together sitting in the same seats

  12. a smooth wind crawls across my face, bustling people crowd the coridors, people crying, begging, leaving, going, living, loving, everybody.
We’re all here for one reason. To go.

  13. To take the tube is to get to places, where you were and where you’re going. The journey that you take is a mission, a goal, one place is in mind but it is easy to fail in this mission. Too early, too late, stupid broken ticket machines or even something disastrous. Don’t forget the horrible fat sweaty people.

  16. She tap dances on the subway. She is tired but still trying. She has blood on her pants, but still she taps – tap tap tap – and the subway shifts and she almost falls, but doesn’t. She just keeps tapping and hoping and devastating.

  17. I’ve never ridden a subway. But they’re always in movies, and they seem to be really cool. I’m from a place where it would be convenient to have them, and probably cheaper than the current modes of transportation, which are cars or metro buses. But I guess walking is okay too, and that’s almost totally free.

  18. i am so hungry for a sub because it is delicious and healthy and you can get a 5 dollar foot longgggg and i like to get whole wheat bread with turkey no cheese lettuce tomatoes and peppers and jalapenjos and mayo.

  19. I like the subway. Personally, I have to take a car to work everyday, but I’d prefer to ride the subway. When I lived in Tokyo I used to take the train everyday. I could read, write, listen to music, nap, and generally enjoy my time. Now, I get run off the road, yelled and honked at.

  20. I remember when I went on a subway for the first time. I was 14 and with some friends visiting England. Actually it’s called the tube there. It was really interesting at first, a bit like going on a roller coaster ride but we all soon fell asleep because it was a long ride.

  21. the subway is such an interesting place. there are weird things everywhere and homeless guys with no teeth and garbage, but despite all of that it is one of the staples of huge cities like new york. and so many people use it. its so strange.

  25. Dirty, sweaty, but a happy place. potencially. I love to be suprised by laughter in this place, where men in ties stare at their useless phones in the despereate hope to see thier own misery echoed in one anothers eyes. On day; I shall stand up and SCREAM ‘ICE CREAM TIME’

  26. the night was friday the 16th of April, from the year of all misfortunes 1948, I was walking through a rainy Paris, indulging on the sights as I have made my way towards a subway entrance, wanting and craving a journey in the underground.

  30. It’s tax Day and SUbway is giving BOGO offers in honor of the taxes we pay. Taht said, I usually think of underground. Trains, heat, tracks, getting throngs of people from place to place. tangled multicolored maps that people try to unravel like a skein of yarn toget from one place to another in an area they don’t always know. Or that they know so well they don’t want to know it anymore.

    Stephanie Beck
  31. Great, now I want a sandwich. And you can’t have a sandwich without chips. And you can’t have chips without something to drink. And you can’t have something to drink without putting some rum in it. And I can’t have rum without running the risk of ending up downtown without any pants on. So I think we all know how my day is going to end now.

  32. The subway is crowded and messy. Human body meshed with human body until we’re unsure if we’re commuting or communing or fucking on that dirty tube beneath the streets. And, at some point in the ride, it no longer matters. We’re just humans, being. And that’s when we commute and commune and fuck like our lives depended on it.

    Torrin
  33. Going down into the subway with bums and musicians and stink. Waiting for my train to come with the rest of the sheep. I hate the damn subway. Smashed into silver tubes like sardines. You’re not a sheep, you’re a fish. A lowsy fish. And these people stink.

    Shayne
  34. Last year I took a trip to the Big Apple. We were walking back to our hostel when we got lost, it was dark and there was a bitter february wind. Sunddenly, from the bleak street I noticed the warm glow of the subway entrance. It was our saviour.

  35. something very delicious to eat for lunch. also makes me think about the subway system, and what it would be like to ride one, as we don’t have them here in Newdfoundland. It must get pretty crazy at rush house.

    Krista Penney
  36. The smell of stale air. Hot bodies. Exhaust fumes. I miss these. My home does not have a subway system but these smells bring me back to my travels around Europe just after college–young, adventurous, carefree. I am in constant struggle to reclaim those feelings but I am pessimistic that I never will.

  37. Once, i was in the subway in New York City. It was dark and damp and I was riding alone. Suddenly, a man ran up to the cabin of the subway and started to rail on the door demanding the captain to let him in. The captain refused to when the man threatened to shoot multiple customers in the head.

  38. I love the subway. All of the different people pretending that they are not observing each other. I always wonder what the other is thinking. Where are you going? Where have you been?

  39. The subway in Glasgow is called the Clockwork Orange. Most people outside of Glasgow would not even know it existed. It consists of one track with maybe 12 stops. Not much in comparison to big cities like London or New York.

Apparently they’re thinking of closing it down. This would be a shame, it’s very handy for students! They used to do a discovery ticket which meant you could travel all day, which was cheaper than a return. It was great because you always thought you were getting a bargain but now they have put the price up and you stress each time about whether or not you will be making more than two trips that day.
