  1. Sweep the hall of my mind
    Sweep it of my worries
Brush the dirt up off my thoughts
    Let imagination run rampant
Feel the breeze coming through the corridor
    The spring winds refreshing everything.

  2. I love how it’s like a thing for the guys team to sweep the 50 free. Go Matt Tan and Alex! :D And of course, Wilson, too, he’s literally my favorite person out of the entire team. Always saying hi to me and always being nice, he’s one of the greatest captains and even role models that I could ask for. And he even jams hard :P

  3. To sweep or not to sweep that is the question. Some people will choose to sweep the debris from their floors, others will choose to vacuum and some will buy a dog. Some people may not even sweep their floors for they do not care.

  4. Sometimes I sweep with a large broom, and sometimes with a smaller one. It depends on how big the mess is and also if I can find the properly sized broom. I don’t own a vacuum in my apartment so to sweep is the only option. Chimney sweeps aren’t easy to come by these days, but in past times it was a popular profession. I’m not sure why they went away.

  6. “It’s just a broom,” they said “all it does is sweep” They said. I mean really, with bristles like that how could it be an ordinary broom? It doesn’t miss much either, standing over there against the wall. Frankly it has always terrified me, and then it had to move…

  7. The bromm went across the cool, shiny brown hard wood floor. Gathering every bit of dust and crumbs in an artistic flowing fashion. What a gift to the world this broom was. It makes us laugh. It makes us cry. It is always there for us. Probably because it is an inanimate object and cant go anywhere…:)

  8. sweeping like Cinderella in her little hut. Back and forth and back and forth no respite. Like a slave she works.
Mickey Mouse, the wannabe wizard makes another mess.

  9. I stumbled down the alleyway with blurred vision, boozey mind, tripped over stray bottles and feral beasts; the street sweeper scowled in my direction, I, unaware continued stumbling in the direction of shadows, dustbins & nothing in particular.

Now that it’s not yours, you can see its cost.
What you took for granted when it was by your side,
Has been swept away, leaving you with your pride.

  19. She sweeps the room carefully. She needs to get every speck of dust so he won’t force her to do it again. Her story is a cinderella kind of story. Poor girl who sweeps all day. The thing is though, her husband is no prince charming.

  20. I like to sweep. Sweeping is fun. One time I swept a hamster under a rug, then stepped on it. Haha, not really. Just kidding. But one time I swept termites into a koi pond. I remember my sister getting a toy broom one time.

  22. My eyes and my broom both, a silly stick of a thing, brush across the wide long hallway…

I was always afraid of Mickey in his wizarding garb. He never seemed smart enough to do anything much. That was mostly his voice, his voice definitely did not make me comfortable trusting him. My perfectionist world didn’t allow for the mess he made, and it frightened my senses to watch it happen…

I’m there now, in a long hall, where stairs lead to what may be a beauty, sleeping languid as blood is pawned from her prickled finger. I see halls that princes and modern day gentiles, whose gentleness is questionable, dance in, jiving and rolling their R’s. It never does end, the past.

We’re only left here to sweep our eyes and our brooms across its ruined (changed, altered but left essentially the same) expanse.

  23. One glimpse it took,
    One moment of clarity
One word of you to whisper in my ears
The first time you said ‘I love you’
The times you said you’d never leave
you swept me off my feet the first time we’ve met.

    Robin
  24. A sweeping vista of the chapel and the Minneapolis skyline, which I swapped for a view of a brick wall in the east end of London.

Junior year was rad, and I don’t have any regrets.

Senior year, on the other hand…. maybe a few regrets.

  25. You only want what you think you’ve lost.

    Anna
  27. sweeping brooms is something that I don’t like to do.
There’s nothing more about sweeping that I can talk about.

  29. The dust sprinkles layered everything in the room. The cracks, the surfaces — even the dust bunnies seemed to have pet dust bunnies. It was understandable. The room had last been used by a group of frail scared children, stuffed into the closet-sized space and told to breathe as little as possible while the heavy boots of the men searching for them clunked in the hallways and in their sleep.

  30. I sweep the floor but there is always something else to sweep away. I guess there is beauty in this. That God will always give us a new purpose even when we think we are finished.

  31. Anna walked into the kitchen and instantly knew she had interrupted something. Being a low-level servant was never fun, but when you walked in on something you shouldn’t be hearing, it could mean losing your job.

Maggie, the head house maid, scowled at Anna and barked at her.

    “Go sweep the courtyard!”

Throwing a finger into the air in the direction of the courtyard as if Anna was a dullard and didn’t know where it was, Maggie glared at her until she left the room.

As she walked out, Anna was sure she heard the name of Lady Jane mentioned in undertones.

  38. The method of sweeping the gym floor never changed for Jim Walton, 35-year janitor of Pedora Middle School. Back and forth, in deliberate vertical lines, until not a speck of dust was left. How he longed to be remembered for the specks he swept away, and for the small speck that people saw in him.

  39. You’re like a
    Thunder clap;
    Sharp and hard and rumbling.
    You leave me shaking,
    Gripping hard to the edges
    Of the light
And the rough sweep of your
    Lips.

  40. In one clean sweep everything was a mess. Hard to believe. Everything fell to pieces as though a vulture swooped down and brought chaos…Cry Havoc! A clean sweep…a street sweeper. Sisyphus, pity. Heigh ho.
