  34. Temper rising as he just stares at my fuming face. His silence is what I fear. We throw dishes, we slam doors, we don’t let the neighborhood get any sleep it seems every night. If our silence comes, the anger fades. We stand like this in our silent kitchen, with not even the dog barking anymore. Shattered plates and bowls scattered around the room under cabinet doors only now hanging on a single hinge. We shed no tears, just watch in silence as layers of our cracked skin peel off. Taking a step forward at the same moment we kiss softly each others lips for the last time. Then I going out the back and he the front, we part ways into the night. Leaving our shattered home and hopes in the past.
