Although they had ridden hard, they were still too far from the inn and had resorted to taking shelter within an abandoned farmhouse. Luckily the fire they created was quick to warm them and they knew they’d be safe until morning.

  17. I woke up shaking. Outside, thunder crashed and I realized I’d been woken from a dead sleep by the sound and fury outside the window. Edgy, I looked toward the window – lightening sparked outside the shade, illuminating the room and the objects in it. I shook off sleep and wondered if I’d be able to fall back into slumber. I also wondered why, even though during the day, I liked thunderstorms, they terrified me at night.

  24. What does thunder mean to me? Who really know. I sit on my roof occasionally during a storm. I find it peaceful. Who know what’ll happen, you gotta take risks.

  28. the word thunder is like Iowa- not noticed until it roars. A lot of things are like that. Myself included. We all have a little thunder inside. It helps that cool rain comes with it- otherwise it would just be loud and obnoxious down here.

  35. loud and obnoxious at times, but very soothing. Helps me falls asleep when there’s a storm going on. When it’s low and far away it can seem extremely ominous, like you don’t know whats coming. peaceful at times

  36. I am not afraid of thunder. Some people are but I am not. My dog is a different story though. I find myself having to calm her down in the middle of a heavy thunder storm as if she was my own small child. Not being able to have children of my own I cherish the opertunity to act motherly to at least one living creature before I die.
