Is it more than just a coating on a room?
Is it symbolistic of your life?
It sits there day after day holding things up
    Never letting them fall
    It’s your friend
    When failed by all

  11. There were fifteen or more layers of wallpaper in the house that my parents bought. My aunts and mom worked tirelessly to peel each one away. I wish I knew the story of the people who put up those layers. Who were they? Why did they just plaster the new over the old?

  17. The wallpaper was torn across the baseboard, ripped and shredded with age. The yellowed edges curled out and away like broken wings. Marjorie sat and watched them flutter in the breeze from the open window and hoped they’d fly away, so she could too.

  18. i don’t know why people have musty wallpaper. it’s sort of old-fashioned, ancient, like creepy houses in ghost stories. the attic with the ghost, and the living room is covered in wallpaper. we sang a chorus song about it as some point…it’s odd.

  19. Pulling back the dingy wallpaper, I found the old plaster of the kitchen wall appeared yellowed with age and covered in dust and grime. And yet, taped the wall, was the note I’d been looking for…

  20. My grandfather had a wallpaper business. Grandma had to hire his competitor to finally get her own wallpaper hung. Boy! Did that make Grandpa mad. Seriously, to avoid divorce, never hang wallpaper together.

  22. i love the damascus wall paper that is on ancient houses, i did a work of art for my class that had all of this wallpaper on the back, it was beautiful even though it took me a lot of time and afterwards o screwed it up by doing something horrible in the middle.

  23. Scrapping and scrapping. We thought it was a good idea to buy a fixer-upper but this was way more fixing up than I had bargained for. The floors were next and then the kitchen. I smiled at Ted; I hoped that it was worth it.

  24. The wall paper is torn and disgusting. It is peeling, a shade of puke yellow that shouldn’t have ever been on the walls in the first place. But still she sleeps in there, her blue plaid blanket curled up in the far right hand corner of the room. It’s gross, really, the way she lives, but it’s not like I can do anything about it. It’s not my life, it’s hers, but really. Do something with that wallpaper.

  25. wallpaper is absolutely wonderful. It can make a room change from a dull, lifeless place to an exotic surrounding! Wallpaper comes in all sorts of sizes, colors, and patterns. You can find wallpaper that turns a room into an underwater world from the sea! You can also make the room into a comfortable beach. Wallpaper can make a room seem more cheery if you you choose a bright solid pattern. You can make a room comfortable with a warm brown. The colors can change the whole feel of a home, thanks to wallpaper!

  26. Making wallpapers for desktops seem so easy but really, there is a lot of canvas to fill up. Creating graphics is something that I really want to get in to but dont have much time to learn.

  29. The wallpaper was so out of date, that it spoke of cigarette commercials and cocktail parties with no worries of designated drivers. It would have to go . . . but there would be something missing from the room once it was scrapped away . . . something of the chemistry of the lives lived there–which had to become in-grained in the paper–would be gone forever . . . and ugly as it was (and was it ever ugly) it would be sad to see it go.

  30. I didn’t know what to think at first. The wallpaper was “just there”. Can you believe that we put up with it for so long? I sure can’t. Its absolutely the best thing in the world that we got rid of it. Painting over that old crusty stuff was the best decision we ever made.

  32. there was pink wallpaper on the wall of her childhood bedroom, but that is all she can remember. that and the little hearts her sister use to draw on the inside of a door to their closet, where their mother would keep her fur coats in the summer time and swap them for summer wear in the winter.

  33. My wallpaper is of Egyptian hieroglyphics. When I was younger, I had an obsession with Egypt, and convinced myself I wanted to make my room Egypt themed. My parents told me that I would probably hate it later, but I ignored them. I should have listened to them, because now, 4 years later, as a senior, I really loath my room.

  34. We don’t have any wallpaper, except for on our computers. Wallpaper can provide beautiful scenery, cute patterns, and gorgeous color combinations. However, in our house, each room is painted a different color. Wallpaper is messy to install; painting is quite a bit easier. Also, wallpaper fades. But if you get semi-gloss paint, you can wash your walls with a slightly damp cloth. Wallpaper on the computer can be changed. That way, when you get tired of a certain design, you can find a different one. Sometimes I change my wallpaper once a month. Then, if I find one I really like, I keep it longer. And the cool thing is I can save it so I can return to it later. And, it’s free!

  35. Wallpaper with tiny little eyes
    speckled all over the place.
It watches you while you urinate,
it watches you while you scream
The wallpaper watches your father get angry
for all the money he lost on his football team.

    It’s crinkled yellow
    with tiny blue irises
like the boyfriend of your dreams.

  36. Sometimes
I just like to rip down wallpaper

  39. whatever you ever heard about wallpapers is NOT TRUE. They have been specifically made by aliens to make our minds more succeptable to their mind-controling machines that control minds. People don’t really NEED walpapers, so why do they think they do? ALIENS! That’s why.

  40. the yellow wall paper was the first short story I was forced to read in a high school classroom that legitimately changed my life. I can never look at wallpaper again without imagining that woman going insane, and seeing my future in her.
