Choices resulting in a number of different paths, but we have to step back and realize that these choices are all simple. We must do whatever it is that makes us happy. used to block out prying eyes from
    the abuse within?

  21. I wish my ideas could fall as simple as the rain. One drop follows one drop and each one knows its place in the sky before it plashes to the ground. And all the drops together make a satisfying sheet of silver and a harmonious sound. Not like my ideas, that tangle and snarl and persist in being blown off course.

  27. More often than not, we forget about this word. We cease to remember that our world has evolved from simple times. Not every little thing in life has to be complex in nature. We have to take the time to see the easy side of a task and be content with completing it in a way that might take longer. If we avoid the complexities, we may find that tasks become more meaningful when finished due to the simplistic nature in which they were accomplished.

  29. It was a simple matter: either Gwendolyn put the rat down, or she submit to its biting, but something in her didn’t pay attention. Ever since the pain receptors had been turned off, she didn’t see the reason to put up with the effects of the natural world. Why should she succumb to the sun and avoid its burn? Why should she wear shoes, when it didn’t hurt to walk across the rocks? It wasn’t as though she had ever bled – and now she didn’t feel the pressure either. She was never a human, but now even the little things that made her like them were disappearing. There was no reason to maintain the pretense anymore.

  30. “Is it really that simple?” whispered Jackie as I showed her the mac and cheese recipe. I smiled.

“Yep!” I replied cheerily. “Just some hot water, some noodles, some milk and butter and cheese powder, and boom. Delectable dairy goodness.”

Jackie at first seemed raring to go, but then she wrinkled her nose. “What if I’m lactose intolerant?” she asked in that cute, concerned voice of hers.

I laughed and ruffled my daughter’s bouncy blonde curls. “Honey,” I cooed to her, “you don’t have to worry about that.”

  35. It is a universal truth. Once you hit thirty five you can kiss goodbye to the simple life. Everything gets complicated. Marriages turn into divorces with very messy court proceedings. Jobs turn into businesses. Businesses turn into bankruptcies. Friends turn into people with bigger pools and better cars than you. Those cute, cherub cheeked babies turn into uncontrollable screaming monsters. Even your diet gets complicated.
