Just as I would never think of bullying anyone, I would never let my child be a bully. If they smoke or drink, that's normal teenage stuff. But bullying is intolerable behavior. I can't imagine what would drive a person to even think it was okay to hurt another like that.
We sit on the balcony and stare at the fireworks. I look at my phone, reading the text from my boyfriend. "I love you too". But we watch for the boy whose balcony is below ours, hoping we'll be able to see him again tonight.
My love life will soon go up in flames.
I looked at him and glanced away awkwardly. It wasn't easy to say something like this, especially not to a guy as good as him. There wasn't a bad bone in him, but I willed myself to say it: "Adam, I have a confession to make."
I opened the door and took a deep breath. While I was gone, no one had disturbed the sanctity of my home. It was evident by the clutter sitting exactly where I had left it and the dust on the counters. Home sweet home
She watched the girls run around the field and smiled proudly, thinking about how she had practically raised them for the past 4 years. She had done pretty well, she thought. She had succeeded as a headmaster and the girls had grown to be wonderful young women.
The word rolled in and out through her thoughts: happy. What does it mean to be happy? Is it having what you want? Is it doing what you want? Is it as simple as living every day to its fullest? But none of these is correct. Happy is a state of mind, not an emotion, not a condition, but a choice. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to not.
The lake shimmered in the late afternoon sunlight. As she meandered down the path, she thought to herself that the scene was perfect, except that it needed another character. She longed for her old friend back to walk with her again.
There are a hundred roads to take, a thousand ways to get where you're going. There is no one right and one wrong way to go. Where you go, your story will follow. Where you lead, everyone else will in turn go. Follow your own footsteps and carve a path through the unknown.
I woke up with a start, in full panic mode. There was nothing wrong with me, but I had been jerked awake by something forceful. I felt beside me to see if Jeff was still there, and he was. I sat up and looked around. Although Jeff was beside me, still sound asleep, he was in peril. Around his neck and chest was an enormous python, intently winding itself tighter and tighter around its meal.
I looked over at Bogdan. He didn't seem to know the answer either. Nervously, I glanced down at the paper in front of me and tried to guess what the teacher wanted from me. There was nothing there to help me. I was stuck with no answer and my class reputation on the line.
